2inch it takes all sorts and I can understand your partner wanting to protect herself but a gun ... if that goes off accidentally your girlfriend will be looking for new legs.

    I agree with my Miss...

Not that this is a political debate, but guns should be restricted to police and hunters only, and no one in the world should have to feel so afraid so they would need to own a weapon (but I know thats adreamworld).

I'm with Miss Mira on this one. The only time I see guns here in the UK are at airports and army bases ect. I few years back me and the wife was on holiday in the USA and went to a supermarket to do some food shopping. We went to Walmart (ASDA in the UK) and we was amazed that it was selling a range of guns and rifles alongside the foodstuffs. It's a funny old world. But it would be boring if we was all the same.

thanks for all the imput. its nice to see around the world is different. in a perfect world man would not need a gun for defence cuase there would be no crime. i own several guns of very good quility that my boy will get as i am gone .i just know the bad guy gots one , and looks for easy targets ( girls) in most cases . if it helps my lover be safe its worth it. also we live in a very safe /almost zero crime town . but you never know

the S&W .380 is a very nice little pistol, I prefer the colt model 1911 commander in .45 ACP, if you are going to use a pistol for it's intended use, you want it to knock your target down, and the clot hits like a truck, like a loaded pulp truck on a dirt road doing 70. Doesn't matter what drugs are ripping through their blood, hit the center of mass and they are gonna be on their ass. The propencity of the 9mm recently, I think, is a mistake, way to often it can take three or four good hits to knock em to the ground, and then with that much dammage, the likelyhood of death is greatly increased. However, the commander doesn't hide well, it's large and heavy. Open carry is a better option anyway, I think.

    Indeed

Too many fucking movies. And somehow very few of them have someone shooting himself or his family despite the constant stream of that.

I remember when they introduced mandatory seat belts and seat belt laws and every fool who couldn't do math would talk about someone they had heard about being saved because they were "thrown clear". Here it is decades later and the death rate in cars continues to go down per mile traveled despite no one being thrown clear (I had a friend in high school who was thrown clear, there was a tree in his path and he died)

So you quote stats on the number of people killed by their own guns and the number who saved themselves because they had a gun (and good luck getting recent numbers, the NRA has successfully lobbied to prevent those sort of numbers from be generated in recent years) and they will say well that is because they weren't as trained, disciplined, whatever as I am, as if no ones kid had ever done something stupid, or none of them have neighbors that they think are nuts. Look up the gun deaths and murder rate per thousand for England and the US

True story. I'm a former martial arts nut, one night i was in bed with my wife and I was woken from a very sound sleep by something. I looked over and saw a shadowy figure rummaging through my wife's dresser drawers. "Oh my god we are being robbed and he is in here with us". I tried to quietly reach over to a katana that was next to the bed (like I said, martial arts nut) just as I was reaching it our dog came in, walked up to the figure and got petted. It was my 13 year old son who had just recently gone through a huge growth spurt.

"Eric what are you doing in here?" "I forgot I had an art project due and I'm looking for mom's scissors"

If I had had a gun where I could have "saved" myself it would have been pointed at him and hopefully he would not have panicked when I told him to freeze.

But I wouldn't bet on that.

But we need guns if the government gets repressive! Right, like the foreign armies and terror groups in the countries we invade aren't better armed and organized than you could ever hope to be. Quit watching remakes of Battlefield Earth or worse Red Dawn

"If you outlaw nukes then only outlaws will have nukes"
