Messaged Youming a week ago on Etsy and their website and no response. Do you think they're on hiatus for COVID again?
It was probably the lunar new year, normally he is very fast to respond and I received my last order from them just about 3 or 4 weeks ago.
From a message I got from him earlier this month. “we will have new year holiday from 15th to 31th” So they are likely caching up at the moment.
I tried several times to get a reply from them about some questions i have, but didn’t get a reply. Very frustrating, so i gave up…
He responded on etsy today to me. My cage production is running a solid 12 weeks unfortunately. But I suppose good things are worth waiting for.
@Lockednchastee : same here. Order placed on nov 11th, 2022 and still waiting for it to be in production. Let's be patient.
I heard from him today (and hope this dissuades others from emailing him so he can get on with some welding!) My order went in on 30 November & he expects to ship it on 7 March, which'll be a day short of 14 weeks Assumption being that Locktober & N-N-November will be increasingly popular times to order these days + a 2-weeks break for New Year holidays
I've said it in other threads, running a business isn't easy. If it was more people would do it successfully. And one of the challenges is to do things like making your product while communicating with your customers. If he's so busy that he can't reply to emails then maybe it's time for him to get some help. Or at least start thinking about it. IMHO, one of the most important things in business is to keep the customer happy. And communicating with them is one thing that isn't very "hard" but does take time. Time we often feel is "wasting time" from things like welding and such. But without customers we have no business. And they're the ones spending money. So I agree people shouldn't bug him just to bug him. And your post may stop a few of those. He should expect a certain amount of emails and calls that need attention. It's just part of doing business.
agree with all of that, and was half-joking about the other part. perhaps it will reassure others waiting in line, I know it's difficult to wait for stuff that you're excited about ... all part of the mix for these Mom & Pop shops, now with a global reach (and reputation) in a world where Amazon & Apple have set the bar / expectation so very high
Successful start up businesses are hard to manage when growing from nothing to substantial volumes quickly, which seems to have happened here. From “who is the new kid on the block” to very quickly becoming one of the highest quality custom makers around. I’ve bought from him, the product quality and extent of tailoring he’ll do is I think the best in the market (without going crazy expensive with Steelwerks Extreme). And for all we know he started it as a sideline “hobby” business which he’s now trying to figure how to keep up with demand while also doing other things. Making chastity devices is a cottage industry, we can’t expect the same levels of speed of communication etc that we get from long established big businesses.
I have been emailing him about making an addition to a custom locking OA wand I got from him. He had taken two to maybe four days to reply between emails. Sounds like he's there, but busy.
I can't imagine what it takes to make cages like this as a business. Especially quality ones. Each bar cut to perfect length, each joint expertly welded in dimensions to the mm. Then polished with no visible flaws. And then to do it with titanium!! To do it once is great, to do it on scale-wow. There really is no way to scale unless you hire more expert welders. And your product is only as good as your worst weld, for that will be what is shown on a forum.
Shipping notification this morning: 17 weeks & 2 days from order I think he has a lot of orders in, so patience will be needed ...
I ordered a custom titanium wand Wednesday night, got some questions today which I answered promptly. Was told it would ship in 2 weeks. I know it’s not a cage, I have one of his cages… impressive and it took a few months. I was impressed on this small wand order to get such a quick response
