Does anyone know of a good adhesive that can be used for the liner around the groin protector on a Carrara belt? The lining (type of automotive style liner maybe?) covers the metal edges, and came loose where it bends. I've tried gorilla glue, a marine adhesive, and something other glue I had in the house, but each of these didn't last long, or quickly flaked away. I'm considering trying rubber cement.
Any suggestions for something that will hold to metal long term?

Good luck.... an adhesive that will bite into stainless and silicone and survive the environment of temperature, moisture and movement?
Orange RTV high temp gasket seal?

Bostik 1400 Neoprene glue , I've used it to hold rubber automotive moldings to metal.

Best successes I've had with glue is an epoxy. You'll know it when you see it as it has two tube - the resin and the hardener. To give some idea of its strength I used on a cutter used to cut the foil on wine bottles. That was about 15 years ago and still going strong.

finding something that will stick to shiny stainless will be difficult. As will finding something that will stick to silicone. And if you find something that will do one, its unlikely that it will do both. I have tried epoxy on stainless, it soon comes off and wont stick to silicone. Google found this https://www.permabond.com/resource-center/silicone-bonding/ it may be you need something to stick to the silicone, something to adhere to the stainless and a third to bond the two glues together. And proper preparation of the two surfaces would be vital, including probably emery on the steel to provide a key/

I looked for the Bostock Neoprene glue with no success. But, while looking, I ran across 3M black weatherstripping and gasket adhesive, which is very similar. Great results so far. I think it will hold far better than anything else i tried. Thanks for the help!

Any update on the 3M? I have some of this and I'm thinking about using it on one of my projects.

The 3M stuff worked pretty well for keeping the lining attached to the steel. On my Carrara, there is a 2nd rounded liner that is glued to the first harder lining. I don't think I used enough adhesive on that, and it peeled off. I'm going to try cleaning it better and using more adhesive on it.
