what are the benefits of using those inserts?

The two things I’d be hoping for:

Making it harder, or hopefully impossible, to pull out of.

Making it less mess to pee, even if I have to sit down.

    Downsides?

Overall love the tube... It does make it easier to pee, less mess.
I have one metal tube and one plastic tube. Metal tube hurts reminds me its there more when you get excited.
Depending on length of tube it does make it very hard to pull out.

    Downside
I like to swim and got an UTI, I am sure the tube was part of it. No fun

UTI's are very common if you insert a foreign object into your urethra

My KH likes to add one every so often to mix it up. Definitely a more "secured" feeling. She's a nurse and careful about cleanliness so no UTIs. Did get some abrasion near the tip when the tube wasnt adjusted well and pulling down.
Have noticed a lot of leaking last time, I think from inreased arousal.
So for us it is a fun mix up but not long term use (longest was 4 days).

Hygiene is very important, but I have found the plug a very effective method for preventing pull-out. Not as effective as a pa of course, but for those of us who don't want to go down the pa road, I think it's the next best thing.
I haven't found peeing quite as straightforward as hoped, the tube doesn't always guarantee a nice linear release (haha), as things can shift around and it can sometimes get a bit messy. But overall, definitely recommended!

I havn't experimented with them much but that was because i had pants full of blood after a couple of hours, quite scary but no long term harm. I think stainless steel might be ok and i might experiment further but I have given up with silicone for anything to do with chastity devices, It just sticks to your skin and causes discomfort, I suspect the same is true of the inside as well as the outside.

I really wouldn’t recommend the use of inserts long term, remember if your in hospital and have a catheter fitted for just 24 hours you are given 2 lots of antibiotics (one on insertion, one on removal)

Ah, but a urinal catheter goes right into your bladder. If you go there you really do need to be carefull.

i have the tether insert wich doesnt go in further then a PA would, so no more or less infection risks then a PA.
It does however have the same security as an PA,but doesnt have the migration issue that can happen..so for me there are no downsides to the tetherspout insert its 100% secure and if there is one downside it is that you have to insert it yourself someone else cant do it for you and takes me 5 mins in the shower.

The most significant advantage for me is that I can stand up to urinate. It's actually less messy than without a chastity device, as the flow is more direct and contained.

It would be nice to stand and pee! Our rule here is sitting no matter what. Belt on or off. As much as I would love to have a tube it would not makes sense for me.
I've been sitting to pee for so long I'm not sure I can pee standing anymore!! LOL

My level of interest was nowhere near the agony and discomfort from having a urinary tract infection (UTI) for several weeks. Gonna pass on inserting anything near there ever again.

my experience has been amazing. I emphatically do not wear the insert when active - that did cause trivial bleeding I didn't care to repeat. but at home at end of day the insert, properly lubricated and carefully inserted, is sheer fucking bliss. the tagline isn't a joke: I've never had better orgasms since being caged. I don't ejaculate, but who cares? multiple orgasms front and back with no refractory period and no fatigue? yes, please. one begins to understand what those crafty tantric yogis and taoist magi were talking about. the sensations get so intense, they might as well be religious/spiritual ecstasy.

I should add that I religiously clean the insert with alcohol wipes before each use. I've also found that boxer-briefs (which are really man-panties) keep things snug and cozy and still.

I just think of how nasty an infection is! From first hand experience I know I don't want a repeat! All cleared up quickly with antibiotics but my was I ill for a few days! Can't emphasize enough the hygiene side of it if you do play! I'll give it a miss though.

We had gotten a cage with a metal tube and when I first inserted it it felt amazing. The thought of it was a big turn on BUT it literally hurt like it was angled weird or something. I could only sit 1 way and could hardly stand without it feeling like it would rip me apart. So needless to say we didn't use it.

I really can't imagine a urethra insert being any comfortable and I wouldn't wanna try it out.
For the part about "harder to pull out": I prefer just wearing a steel chain around my hip connected to the cage. That way it's impossible to pull out.

But who knows, maybe a urethral insert is just right for you.
You just gotta try or you will never know :)

inserts really aren't for security. they're for sensation. and, clearly, to individual taste and temperament.

We have played with the metal and the tubing insert..

They are defenetly a head trip as I can feel it sliding in and me acomidating its girth/lenght, the same as I imagine my wife feels a cock enters her.

That being said, I would always end up with a bit of blood, irritation/soreness after having it in awhile. As for urinating, I could it made me spray all over, just like a garden hose..

"blood, irritation/soreness" - cannot recommend enough the healthy use of a sterile lubricant. astroglide, about a peanut's worth, slathered on the pre-cleaned insert, contributes to safer urethral play for me. also being mindful that one's choice of insert isn't running counter to any natural curvature - the urethra should just kind of drape around it without resistance or internal 'rubbing'. one quickly notes the difference between nerves being stimulated and flesh being scrubbed. hopefully helpful. : )
