I purchased a chastity device from Holy Trainer today and at the very end I had to put in my last 6 digits of my social security number to verify my purchase. Should I be concerned about this? I am used to giving out my last 4 digits but not 6. Thanks.

Why on earth would you have to give your social security number to purchase a chastity device?

That sounds really weird. I'm not even sure how the Holy Trainer company would use part of your Social Security number to verify anything, they are a Swiss Company.

I would contact them directly and ask why they need the information.

First thought that would come to my mind when being asked that kind of question, is that its a spoof site, and not the real thing. Just steeling identities.

The Holy Trainer site would not ask for a Social Security number. Seems like a potential identity theft scam. Might call the credit card company.

RUN! The first three digits are for where you live. So by giving the last six and an address, you have in fact given them your entire social security number!! RUN.

    Better yet, report them.

I think I am going to be okay after having visits with my credit card company. I purchased the device on their site and then having hit submit I was taken to a visa prompt in which they asked me for that information. I was told by my company that this is normal with visa.

Actually, the first three are for where you lived when you first got your number. But nonetheless I agree that you should NOT give your numbers, even the last four, as part of any online transaction (except with your own bank).

You are absolutely correct Rectrix. I stand corrected. Obviously, we agree on the risk of the purchase mentioned.

BTW, if someone knows the last six digits of your social, the first three only have 1000 different combinations. 000. 001, 002, ......... 999. So even a lousy hacker can get it right.

    Thanks Rictrix.
