I have a MM Jailbird but am looking for a padlock that doesn't have sharp edges, preferable two padlocks that are key alike - any recommendations?
Best bet is a fine tooth file followed up with super fine wet/dry sand paper. A good brass lock will be ok being modded. (Brinks, Master, Abus) Or pad them.. I have one wrapped in shrink tube. only problem is you loose the sound of it hitting the cage when you walk.
The body of most small padlocks is a very soft metal, usually a brass or similar alloy. Just use a small file to round the sharp edges and corners, it's easy to do and works a treat. You don't need to take much off, it makes such a difference you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner.
Master Lock model 131T is a small lock with a plastic cover that rounds out the edges. I used that before I switched to a security key. They come in packages of 2 keyed alike. You can find them on Amazon.
Thanks everyone for your advice. I think the shank of the Master locks are too thick - I'm going to try to file down the corners of the lock I have and see if I can sort my problem out that way.
The shank on the small master locks worked for me, but your device may be different. Note that if you are using a lock (rather than a security screw) on a Mature Metal device, different locks may not work because the MM devices depend on a very snug fit of the shank in the hole to prevent twisting.

Getting ready to order HER Jail Bird. Have to research this better. The ABUS site shows the lock MM sells to have a 4mm shaft.

" On mine I can get it through the hole in the cage sleeve but not through the post on the ring. I'm sure if you email them to explain what you want to do they'll be able to accommodate. My experience with them is that they were very helpful at all stages of production and delivery
