Has anyone got any experience of the Masterlock bluetooth lockboxes and apps? I am intrigued by them.. The idea of being controlled remotely by a keyholder who has paired the bluetooth lockbox to their phone and can manage release and lock of the lockbox remotely by app feels a great idea.. Does anyone have real experience of these lockboxes and their apps? The concept is great but I wonder if they are robust and reliable or whether the apps work as intended?? Thoughts appreciated. https://www.safe.co.uk/products/mas...MIsN7lj-bO7gIVFJCyCh2-EgnNEAQYAiABEgJF9vD_BwE
Was it good? I looked at that too but would welcome any experiences of bluetooth or wifi controlled lockboxes. There doesn't seem to be an overwhelming market leader.. Igloo looks good as does the masterlock device.
I was also looking into this. This device in particular seems unideal because it really does need to be in Bluetooth range to use that unlock feature. But there are devices that can work remotely, the only catch is that you need to pair the phone with the lock via Bluetooth once in the beginning before you can control it remotely. So in my case that’s not practical because I have an online mistress that lives across the sea, unless I buy her a phone, pair it with the lock, and mail it to her, she won’t have access.
Okay scratch my last post, looking further in this forum it sounds like chastikey is a possible solution. https://chastikey.com/
I was talking with someone in a different venue who uses one which is Wi-Fi enabled like my garage door opener. The keyholder has total control over the safe, and there is no other out.
We use that masterlock lockbox. Your KH can add you as a guest to the lock and allow certain times, or one time access. The basic user app has some limitations where it's only in 1 hr blocks of access, outside of the temp code. Apparently there is a enterprise software ( I hear) that allows more precise control over access. But not sure if there's a cost to it.
This sounds like the solution that I was looking for. Send a lockbox to a remote keyholder at distance so that the lockbox could be paired once with their phone. Then the lockbox is returned to me with the ability for the device to be locked or unlocked at their discretion. Chastikey, Chaster, emlalock, thechaste, etc all offer the option for a Do you know what they use @Alceste ? I've seen some good comments about the Igloo Home 3 unit and have an interest in trying the Masterlock unit but have reservations about the reliability, flexibility and security of the software (thinks back to the Cellmate hacking shambles). The option to use Wifi is very appealing if it can be secured appropriately. Cheers
I bet that there is a significant cost to the enterprise software but 1 hour block limitation doesn't sound too onerous in the basic Vault software. If you can pair a lockbox with a holder's phone, it sounds as if the solution is worth further investigation.. Thanks for the info.. much appreciated.
We are using the igloo lockbox for its vanilla purpose, providing access to a rental property. It works well, and it would work great for remotely controlling access to a key. It can be unlocked directly by having a paired phone placed next to it, but the app also allows you to generate PIN codes remotely to provide one time access as well as duration based access. It doesn’t need a WiFi connection to function, which helps a lot with security. It could easily be used for remote keyholding.
We use the igloo lockbox 3, just started. If my Mistress (@Destiny103181) wants to give me access to the keys, she creates a one time pin to open the lockbox. It is pretty good, she can't open it with a touch of the button but it is pretty damn close, she has total control of the keys either way, and she is happy and that's all that counts.
Does she need to be near the lock to create the new one-time pin? Thinking about emergency access, if KH is at work or out of town. TIA
Yes, she had to link her device to it and then send it to me....We are still working out emergency access, hope it never comes to that.
We used it in 2019 for remote keyholding while my wife was on a lot of travel. It worked very well. I could even carry it in my gym bag. The Igloohome Smart KeyBox v2 worked great. I would like the v3 as it can mute the button presses - those got loud using it in private in the changing room - and it uses USB C for emergency charging instead of a 9volt.
Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I think that the Igloo Home v3 looks like it will do a good job.. Very interested to hear about the Motorola Bolt wifi capabilities too..
Thanks @Alfons003_KH. I assume that it 'just works' as intended and that the software is reliable? Cheers
FYI, we use a Populife keybox. Its BT and can connect with Wifi if you purchase the additonal gateway. I took the door know clasp off and it is mounted directly in wifes closet. Most secure box around. Heavy duty!
Interesting to have the wifi gateway bolt-on.. does anyone have experience of using it? I can't find much info about this.. but interested in the wifi option especially
I got a Igloo Box v3 today, I am impressed with the build quality and the app seems quite decent. Let me know if you have any questions.
