This may have been posted previously, so my apologies if so. I was wondering if anybody had a recommendation for an iPhone app that allowed for storing hidden, secure pictures or videos. Captions, porn, selfies, cage check pics, whatever. Someway to prevent snooping kids or accidental sharing of “the goods” when showing vacation pics to grandma? Thanks in advance!
No app needed, other than the Photos app that comes with the iPhone. To hide a photo/video: - open Photos - select the photo/video you want to hide - tap the Share button (bottom left on mine, the square with the arrow pointing upwards from the centre of it) - tap Hide (you may need to move the menu up from the bottom of the screen to find that). That puts the photo in the Hidden album and removes it from Recents. Back on the Albums tab, if you scroll down, Hidden appears under Utilities and your hidden photos will be in there. They’re out of the way here, away from the casual scroller (like grandma), but still visible to you and to someone who goes looking for it. You can go one step further and hide the Hidden folder: in Settings -> Photos, toggle Hidden Album off, then it no longer appears in Utilities. If someone really wants to find it, it’s still there, and as far as I know there is no way to password protect it, but it won’t pop out by chance - it would take a concerted effort by someone who really knows their way around an iPhone to find it.
If you use Microsoft office / One drive there is a secure vault option folder as part of the drive. It requires a password, holds all sorts of files, and because it is cloud based can be accessed on my iPad, iPhone, and my PC laptop. I tried using Lightroom and Lightroom mobile (I am a photographer and subscribe to their Adobe suite) but the photos are still possible to be found.
I have started using this recently and it works great. Plus in iOS 16 which its coming this fall you can Face ID lock it. One word of caution though is you have to exit the album before clicking anything else. If you are in your hidden album and then leave photos the next time you click on photos it will bring you back to that album! Also if you are in the hidden album and then click library then the next time you click albums you will go straight back to the hidden album- not exactly what you want to happen when you are showing mom the new vacation album! When you are done always click albums at the top of the phone and scroll back up to the top of your albums when you are done looking at your pics...
Hi, gary170 this is great news. I have a samsung. How do I use the secure picture folder, please. I'll soon be taking pictures for uploading here and I have the exact same issue. Grandkids sometimes use my phone.
