So I just got my Lori's cage back after the first round of modifications, I wanted to know if anyone here has any tips on dealing with edema. I think the cage may be just slightly too tight which is causing fluid to be trapped, but I'm not sure. I wanted to see if you guys had any techniques for dealing with edema and preventing it, since it become uncomfortable rather quickly.
I dealt with Edema with most of the cages I've had. Finally when I had everything else going right, except still getting some Edema, I cut away a bit of the sides of my cage just for some extra space where I seemed to get the fluid buildup. That did the trick. Basically, yes, you probably need a bit more space.
I had a similar problem with a Lori and had it rebuilt with more space. It has helped. If problems persist I may file out some material rather than another rebuild. I'm sure it is very close. I've also found that edema is reduced by exercise. Gets the fluids moving.
Thanks for the replies. Yeah, I'm thinking that I'm going to get it opened up a little more. I just wanted to see if there was any other way. These devices can be tough to get dialed in for long term wear.
I needed to increase the gap and make the ring smaller so that it did not move around so much and irritate my skin. I also keep a bottle of silicon lube nearby and use it generously.
