I have had two devices in the past. One was the CB6000, and the latest I have is the Alcatraz as sold here. Claimed to be a stainless steel device, however it has revealed itself to be chrome plated steel instead.

My KH is a tad hesitant about purchasing a new metal device, however I want to be able to reassure her that a Mature Metal device won't corrode (ever if possible!!).

So had anyone ever found their Mature Metal devices shown any form of corrosion?

I've been in one for the better part of two or three years (currently 24/7 since December) and have had zero issues with corrosion.

Been in my mom jailbird pretty much 24/7 for 12 months now, definitely no sign of any corrosion.

MM devices aren't made in china.they are made in Texas.if it says stainless steel for a MM device, then you can bet the ranch it will not corrode.

18 months of pretty consistent use for my QK and no sign of corroding. MM has a good rep, and they wouldn't be getting as much positive feedback as they do if they used an inferior metal.

Thanks for sharing. I suspected that may have been the case. I've never heard anything bad said about the devices from MM. Looks like I'll just size up & buy ourselves one.

I have been in a Queens Keep for about a year now. And I am a professional SCUBA Diver. I have worn it in fresh water, pool water and sea water. I dive roughly 20 hours a week. I have not seen any signs of corrosion at all on the device.

The stainless alloys they use are implant grade, "surgical" steel. They're the among the best choices for corrosion resistance, while maintaining affordability. The steels they use are the same that you'll find in good body jewelry.

I did see that it is 316 stainless steel, which I have heard is safe for use with the body. Once I've worked out the ring sizes, I'll definitely be placing an order.

How does the padlock hold up to the water?

We use a MASTER LOCK # 120 D , it is Corrosion Resistant ( Brass ) and it has had 3 years of heavy 24 / 7 use.
Not a single problem, and just a occasional drop of WD40 and it's fine.
I have a MM Pet Trap and never any issues.

If you get the security screw, there is no padlock. Otherwise it's whatever lock you choose to go with. MM will supply a standard brass Masterlock (although I recommend getting the one with the rubberized coating to minimize sharp edges).

I'm currently saving for a Mature Metal device, it will either be the Jail Bird or Queens Keep. My darling keyholder will decide which one :)

In the end we ended up going with a MM device knowing that it is stainless steel and won't corrode. Thanks for the comments guys
