I have a 5mm Prince Albert with a screw on ball bearing but want to wear my new Steelworks Tube Jacket but struggling to remove the ring. I can unscrew the ball bearing but the gap seems small to slide the ring out between the front hole in my utheria and the bottom one.

Just wondered what everybody else does - This is the type I am wearing.

Thanks for any tips everyone - hope you are all doing well :)

These are ring spreader pliers. They open the ring when you want to remove it. You'll need the other style that compresses the ring when you are ready to put the ring back in.

The rings I have, when I spread them just enough to get the bead, they spring back, I don't need compression pliers.

From the angle of your photo, it appears that your jewelry is a capture bead and not a screw on ball. You don't reference the inside ring diameter and whether or not there is enough of the ring to get a good hold on.

A 5mm ring is equivalent to about 4 GA (gauge). Usually, a ring of thickness requires a spreading tool. Sometimes you can get the ball to pop out by twisting the ring, but again, at 4 GA it may be difficult.

If you go to a Body Piercing studio, they should be willing to remove the jewelry for a nominal fee and it shouldn't take a few minutes. The hole won't close up (PA's normally don't ever close) by the time you get home and you should be able to fit your new device on.

    Just my thoughts.

Me too, but sometimes I spread the ring too far by accident. I've learned to be more careful when removing the ball.

The picture is of a none screw in ball as that was at 4mm however my final stretch was 5mm which has the screw in type. I’ wanted to ask as when I take the ball out don’t have much gap to get it through the front and bottom holes in my urethra. I will try the suggestions.

    Thanks everyone

If it is in fact a screw ball type ring, you may have to rotate the ring to a place on your penis where the ball can slip out. Screw ball type jewelry usually doesn't have much of a gap so that it gives the appearance of a capture bead. If the ball's internal threads are seized or over tight and you cannot move it with your fingers, you may have to use a small pair needle nose pliers just to nudge it loose. Be light on the grip so you don't mar the ball's polished surface. If the ball is cross threaded that's a whole different issue.

Again, visit a body piercing studio and have them help you. I would hate to hear that you hurt yourself or damaged your jewelry.

Looks like a captive bead ring to me.

I have the same and bought snap ring pliers at the nearby auto parts store. They aren't ideal, but they get the job done if you are careful. They expand the ring to remove bead.

I applied medical tape to jaws of pliers before compressing ring when I over expanded it.

It’s definitely a screw in type…the picture is off the previous smaller gauge at 4mm but have gone up to 5mm as per this pic. Do I twist it or open it with pliers seems strong like a scaffolding pole lol
