We have had this discussion to as I fly a lot. I have a V4 nano that is for travelling and the place is for Jailbird at home then nano when I travel. It will be kept in the suitcase and fitted immediately when I get to the hotel. Key goes in a provided enveloped and sealed with a photo. same on return.

I use numbered luggage tags. Works out well but I haven't had to travel lately

Just went through with a mature metal in place and no issues at all. I asked my wife if she was going to let me remove it for the security checkpoints and her response was why you have gone through plenty before.

    Nice! That’s great to hear!

I wrote above that I went through the metal detectors in a Contender in 2019, which is a similar but lighter design than the Mature Metal Jailbird. Both are 316 steel.

Do you know how heavy your cage is?

    I love your wife’s comment!

Not sure how heavy it is but it is the queens keep so probably a little heavier than the jail bird.

Oh wow! That’s impressive. I just assumed. Yes the queens keep has more mass. I’ve used a 13,500 Gauss magnet to test. My 316 stainless Contender does not attract it at all.

There must some critical mass (weight) even for 316 stainless that would be picked up, with the proper machine settings.

    https://www.fastecservices.com/test-standards/

“Grade 316 Stainless is used as it has Non-Magnetic properties, which means that it is one of the most difficult grades of Stainless Steel for a metal detector to find. So the theory is, if it can find this grade then it will certainly find the others.”
