Or do they both go hand in glove? Someone once said 'you're infatuated!' Well yes, possibly, but in my mind, it's worship. Many moments of reflection later, i came to thinking; can you have one without the other? Well, one could be infatuated by a very beautiful Woman or man, but that doesn't mean one worships them. I think worship is different. Checking Websters.... infatuation: 1: to cause to be foolish : deprive of sound judgment 2: to inspire with a foolish or extravagant love or admiration worship: 1: to offer honour or respect to (someone) as a divine power. 2: to feel passion, devotion, or tenderness for. But who decides if its infatuation or worship thats being proffered? Well i guess if each party are unknown to each other, then it's a question of personal perception. I think the important factor, the receiver of the intent should be respected if they feel that it's infatuation, not worship they are feeling. Note to the giver; take notice of the feedback, it could make or break a friendship or relationship.
Infatuation is autonomic; you can see an attractive person and you're infatuated without any conscious decision on your part to do so. It's almost Pavlovian. Worship, on the other hand, is a deliberate act on your part to rationalize your feeling. It may be an attempt to justify an infatuation, but it's separate by being a choice to do so. You can feel infatuated without the need to worship, just as you can worship without being infatuated.
I would say the worshiper; the person being worshiped can't know for sure what's in the mind of the other.
41 years ago my wife said it was just infatuation that I felt. Well every anniversary I remind Her of what She said. She now knows the worship is real. She sees it in my eyes.
