Avatar, what makes a good or bad one, and how important is it?

    i'll start by mentioning this has nothing to do with the movie... Anyone looking to read about James Cameron's blue revolutionaries will be disappointed.

    So, i'm picking up on another thread that diverted slightly to discuss avatars... I was wondering how important they are, and what makes a good or bad one (if there is such a thing)?

    I think its importent, i remember meny of the members in here for there avatar and not by there names. Wont be the judge of good or bad ones.

    What makes a good or bad one - thought.

    They are highly personal and represent you online, what is right for one may not be right for another.

    Like blank profiles, no avatar or the use of a default one tends to speak volumes I think.

    Thank goodness for someone talking sense on this subject.
    A Lady here makes a simple offer elsewhere to find a suitable avatar for someone and it seems to have become a carte Blanche for people who have chosen their own avatars already to start badgering for an avatar. No matter how it is dressed up it is trying to top from the bottom and not attractive IMHO. There is even discussion on how it should work without a thought to what the Dommes here may think of the whole matter.

    If a lady who knows you well suggests a new avatar that's is a nice gift, but asking someone of passing acquaintance on the board seems to contradict all the sense from buzz

    Just my thoughts on this - we are after all a Chastity community - not an avatar one :)

    Well well well... I must say that all the locked up cocks (or clities) are a bit too much from time to time, but afterall it's their pride for some bizarre reason.
    So to make some changes why not make theme months, like October could be a sissy month, November could be leather, December Christmas and so on, then we could all change to something personal every month and be a bit creative with our avetar

    That is very creative and quite ingenious but as has been said earlier it is an easy way to recognise a person who is online.

    For instance, I can tell at a glance if Corset Jane is online due to the distinctive avatar.

    We used to be able to change the look of our profiles and your idea would fit well with that. Sadly that facility is no longer available

    I think it's important to have a custom Avatar, even if it's only so that we might differentiate between posters.

    How important are they?

    After the last few days when a constant blue box in Members online was a pernicious spambot, and then last night another turned up I now regard any blue box as a potential threat to this forum.

    Having an avatar shows you are human and not a piece of malicious software

    For me, it is not important at all. I do understand how it would have meaning to others though. I find my avatar picture to be the most useful thing because it allows me to scroll through a thread and easily find my reply. :)
