    I don't think she has his best interests at heart. She will use him and dump when he's no longer useful.

    That's certainly the look of love! Do you think it's been taken in such a way (with the Queen looking up and the Duke with his arm around her to protect her) that it says she might be the head of state but he's the head of the marriage? Of course we do have to remember our views and ideas of gender roles in the 21st century are so different to the mid 20th century!

    I get why he likes her. She is very child like in her mentality. Maybe she brings him back to a simpler time. She packed her bags when she couldn’t get what she wanted.

    Did anyone get a sudden bulge watching Biden acknowledge the arrival of a Female led Congress. Seeing those two masked women applaud and encourage him to go further gave me a hard on that led to wank release. This always happens to me at such landmark events. Anyone else?

    What you wrote in this post is the best advice that anybody could be given in this lifetime. On both sides. He may have served her out of and with love but what he received in return was far greater than what he gave to her.

    Agreed.

    There is literally too much history, too many rules, too much etiquette, a privy counsel, Parliament, the Church of England, etc. there for the Queen to have much room to be her own woman. Prince Phillip was her subject, yes, but I'm betting that a large percentage of the "no"s he got from her were based in decisions already set before they got married, or were strongly influenced by advice from CoE or Parliament.

    Then there were the times she grew up in, how she was trained to be a Princess and set a good example, etc. I have no doubt that there were times she put her foot down, or pressed for something just because she wanted it. But I'm given to understand that happens in every functional marriage.

    Given all the constraints, I would say that their marriage was as egalitarian as it could be.

    I believe he does, sadly he's not getting good leadership from his dominant wife at all. It sucks, because they could be such great ambassadors for FLR relationships. As an aside, a man in a British FLR that I see working well is Rod Stewart. His Wife is great!

    He married his current wife about 15 years ago. She's a cop and in her language it's pretty clear she runs the show at home. He's clearly dedicated to her, which I think is awesome no matter what type of relationship.
