Perhaps you could try not to view it from the perspective of the male. It is not about sexism or tarring all men with the same brush. It is about understanding that the way the world feels to many women is deeply frightening.

Instead of taking umbrage on behalf of the males of the world, we would be better off supporting the females of the world and endeavouring to create an environment that is less hostile to them.

And this makes me wide off the reality about what?

Are the women today less safe than a hundred or a thousand years ago? Not really, even if the situation is getting worse in some countries, and I don't think it is the civilized men who is to blame for most of that.

Is rape already a crime? Yes. Is it reported and investigated more often than in the past? Yes.

Can discrimination against innocent men, who are a majority, help lower rape statistics? Not likely.

What you've shown us is that UK, one of the most disarmed countries in the EU, a place where you can literally get arrested for having a potato peeler on you in public, still has a huge problem with sexual assault. Notice that the article even mentions that "an estimated 138,000 men experienced some type of sexual assault in the past year", making about 1 in 4 reported victims male.

What does the article disprove about my claims that better situational awareness, basics of self-defense, better knowledge of the people around you, improved self-confidence and carrying at least some legal weapon help potential victims more than theoretical speculations about who's to blame or how we should educate children?

Trust me, I do understand the fears. Like I said, my other half has been a victim of a violent assault a few years ago. I've faced danger myself.

But we're trying to create a safer world for thousands of years and we're still not there. And while it is unlikely that we'll reach that goal within a decade, improving one's own ability to avoid, resist and survive assault can help one even a month from today.

The attackers, the rapists, the vile people who do assault women (and men and others) do understand that violence *works*. It is not pretty, it is not noble, but it achieves results. Using it defensively might seem primitive to some but it helps. Would you rather act like a brute for 10 seconds and live, or stay peacefull and die?

It seems there is a great need amongst some to discuss the ways that women are abusive, becuase it comes up again and again, even though it has nothing to do with this thread.

So I made a thread just for that: women who abuse men.

    https://www.chastitymansion.com/forums/index.php?threads/abusive-women.27857/#post-263853

Everyone, please, share your thoughts there, and let this thread go back to discussing men who sexually assault women.
    Thank you.

Well I've woken up this morning feeling rather haunted. Reading the news this morning I've discovered a recent assault has been reported in the area. Statistically this is supposed to be a fairly safe area although it's not perfect. Police are appealing for potential witnesses who saw the man get away.

What haunts me is I passed through the area shortly after the attack. Within 10 - 15 minutes of the reported time. It was broad daylight, but I didn't see anything. Chances are there wasn't anything to see but I was so blinded by my own problems on my evening drive from work, I can't shake this nagging feeling I may of missed something. My problems seem like nothing compared to the distress she must be going through. Hopefully the police find something.

I guess I'm hoping this post will help remind people to stay alert. This can happen any where any time and you'll never know when you may be needed to make a difference.

You completely missed the point about how this behavior starts in childhood.

I found this a very eye opening read.
It helps highlight how oblivious guys can be. It's also scary how quick things snowball.

There maybe some level of insecurity but they should be able to find a way to cope without making a woman feel uncomfortable. Women have been coping and accepting this behaviour for far too long and have every right to expect things to change.
