I wish I was as convinced that we now live in a world where women are socially, politically and economically equal. That isn't the way I see the situation, although slowly women are achieving small victories in the path to genuine equality. Nowhere near it yet though. However, as FLRs do not require any outside validation from wider society, they can exist and thrive even in situations where the women are not the breadwinner or high achievers in their paid employment.
