Ok i have now worn my new steel chastity device overnight. Nocturnal erections uncomfortable yes but the lasting issue today is burning at the back where the ring goes. I did not put any lube on there and the cage does seem like it slipped down a bit. The erections in the cage were not that painful but this side effect is like a carpet burn feeling.

    Suggestions?

Baby oil gel seems to work the best for me. My problem (sounds like the same) is that once the ring is pulled down due to erection attempting, without lube, the ring stays low on the sack and bunches and burns. I also get the same problem if I don’t shower twice a day. It gets sticky and ring stays put.

In time, your body may adjust to the ring. Mine did and I very rarely get that pinched burning feeling anymore. When I do, I put just a tiny bit of aquaphor (Vaseline) back there and it heals up quickly. Make sure to do it a soon as you notice it or it can get bad. They sell small, chapstick sized tubes that you can carry with you.

Well after wearing it for 24 hours I took it off and the back of my testies and area feel still sore days later. Will let it heal and try some lube back there but maybe the base ring is too small?

Well finally a larger base ring came in for my metal chastity cage. I have now had it on including when I sleep constantly for over 24 hours. It is much more comfortable but might not be a fair comparison as I have been home and not on my feet moving around like I normally would be on a work day.

Now it does seem more comfortable but it is perhaps a bit too loose now and feels like I could easily slip my penis out of it and as I wear it during the day it seems to be sliding so it leaves more of the top of my privates exposed (slipping lower).

I might try going back to the larger ring after conditioning my scrotum and balls with this less restrictive base ring.

A couple of other things you can try... E45 cream, and Bepanthen.
The latter is specifically for baby rash, so the best one to use when it's sore, the E45 cream is less sticky and better to use as a preventative. I have used Vaseline as well.

All three are good to have, I used to get quite a lot of burn sensation, but after using these continuously for a few months it all settled down and I've had a year almost completely clear of skin problems. I just use one occasionally now to prevent the skin getting too dry

If nothing else, try leaving the base ring on if you take off the cage.

You can also try using silicone based lubricant (I use something called Lush), I put a little bit around the base ring at night and it really helps prevent pinching. Also, make sure you don’t have any stubble from shaving, that can cause a lot of chafing.

I have tried most lubes, and oils. I have found that ether Coconut oil, or Shea butter work the best as they actually soak in so they don't leave stains or anything behind like lotions and lubes do. Also makes it Uber soft and able to stretch without pain or marks. Don't use too much at once for you could slide out if you our not in a thing or tight underwear.

I have the same issues with my JB. Baby oil gel and chapstick work well, but my old job was extremely active and long hours so I'd come home with a wretched smell down there.
Couldn't justify spending the money sending it in for adjustments when I couldn't tell if it was the ring diameter or the gap length.
Eventually, I opted for the PA tube device instead
