So if you've never done rubix cube solving before, you could buy one of these that have a compartment inside:

This particular model is called oskar's treasure chest, goes for about ~15-30 usd and ~40usd online. The official website isnt accepting any orders until February it seems and to be honest doesnt look the mose secure.

Anyway, the parts slide over each other and can only be opened in a particular configuration (when the faces all line up) and due to the way the sliders are designed, these don't exactly rotate that smoothly compared to a high quality rubix cube so that will extend your play time for anyone who's actually familiar with solving these.

if you put one of these in a larger safe, you could combine this with a "hygene unlocking" feature of a website like emla or chaster to give you temporary access to the rubix for long term play in place of random chance release.

You could technically just smash it open, but isn't fun.

Does anyone else have something similar?

Great idea. BTW, if that site doesn't look all that secure, amazon sells them, at least in the US. What could be fun is if it looks like a normal cube, get 20 or 30 cubes and this, then mix them all up and put them in a pile, then you have to pick the right cube and solve it in order to get the key. OR 3 or 4 of these with the wrong keys, and 20 or 30 cubes... of course, that's pricey, but could be fun

A great idea! But there are loads of vids on you tube showing you how to solve a rubix cube from any position, but what a great product!

You can put in the position of the colours online and it tells you the exact moves to solve it. Usually in under 21 moves.
