I guess I'm an extreme case since I have had my pubic hair removed with electrolysis. For most of my life I shaved it off for the visual aspect. I have always found body hair to be unappealing on a man or a woman. Don't ask me to explain why, I have felt this way since I hit puberty.
One thing I didn't expect is that having no pubic hair and no stubble/ingrown hairs feels very good to me. It's not a visual thing anymore, the smoothness as if there was never any hair there feels incredible.

I would love it if my wife felt the same way but as it is i'm just grateful she let's me be myself.

I never really tried to analyze why I dislike body hair. It's just part of who I am and people can think whatever they want about my choice.

I know the question was "When did we all decide it's sexier for a woman to be bare?" but since I put no pressure on my wife to go bare down there I can't comment on that.

My wife has pretty similar views. She doesn't like the idea of porn dictating fashion and feels comfortable in her body. She has shaved completely a few times but mostly doesn't but she is not naturally very hairy so it does not affect my pussy worship or bother me. I am totally hairless,legs, underarms, etc... She asks for it and it seems to make her happy. It is also somewhat feminizing and an act of submission to your KH for keeping yourself a certain way.. As far as she is concerned, she asks me to keep her shaved when schedule and time permit. I believe she enjoys it more when I go down on her and she prefers the way she looks and feels. However, if she wanted some or all of it to grow back, that would be just fine too. We are both looking to go for laser treatments at some time in the near future. I prefer completely shaved, or at least trimmed, but since we have a FLR my wife stopped shaving and decided to go natural. She says this is more comfortable for her, and I'm now quite used to it. In the end, it is her decision and she should do what she prefers.
