    For all the crazy stuff there is much more boring and mundane stuff. I will be heading to Bahrain and Saudi in about ten days. Those places are interesting but normallly peaceful and easy going except when Saudi border control jokes about arresting you or they think it’s funny to slip an Israeli border control slip into your passport. I was freaking out because I had been in Israel a month before and made damn sure I threw my slip away (they don’t stamp your passport in Israel because it will cause problems in Arab countries).

    I will add another event later that happened in Sierra Leone when I have time.

    I also missed two terrorist attacks by a few days. I was in the mall in Nairobi a few days before it was shot up and blown up and a bomb and attack happened at the Istanbul airport a few days after I had walked passed the exact spot it happened. Arab spring started a few blocks away from our Bahrain apartment but I missed all of that but my best friend had a front row seat.

    Well, I’m mid transition and live part of my life as male. I’d probably lose my job if I was out at work. It’s not a competition. I’m rather envious of several others here. I’d have loved to meet professor Hawking.

    I also have long second toes...about 3/4 of an inch longer than my “big” toe. If I wear sandals with an open toe I sometimes step on my own toe.

    Good news is that if I ever lose a finger, I have a couple back ups!

    Well I can be a royal pain in the butt sometimes! I’m Italian, and probably the furthest away from any royalty one can get, although there is a town there that has my last name.

    Nope, but I heard it was quite common for that type of error with immigrants during that period. Moms family is from Naples, so no town name there.

    Competent with 50 BMG, M249, MK19, TOW anti tank systems, and various other arms. I did airborne school but didn’t get assigned to an airborne unit. After desert storm I took early out and went back and finished my degree.

    We were both Infantry soldiers, once upon a time.
    Airborne troops (Paratroopers) call us Regular Infantry "Legs". Because we have to use our legs to get anywhere.
    Tankers - those soldiers who operate and fight inside of Tanks call the Infantry "Crunchies" because of the sound we make when they run over us. Hey, it happens.
    We, the Infantry call the Tankers Dat's, short for Dumb Ass Tankers, because, try as they might, tanks don't and won't float, and for a variety of other "Reasons".
    We, the Regular Infantry call Paratroopers idiots, namely because they continue to jump out of perfectly good airplanes. And for a variety of other "Reasons". :D
