Suggestion: Update the avatar policy

    I feel like the avatar policy either needs to be reaffirmed or updated. The currently posted one states:
    #1 is good and doesn't need any sort of clarification.

    #2 and 3 are more problematic. I'm not going to link any specific members, but there are quite a few front and back shots of a guy wearing panties and that violates the letter and spirit of those rules in my opinion. While I think that some are more tasteful than others (e.g. mwsubmissy's), that's a distinction that is hard to convey in a codified rule. A blanket ban on panty shots and anything that shows off someone's ass is probably a reasonable clarification.

    #4 doesn't seem to be in effect and should possibly be removed from the list. The only reason I can see to keep it is because it is nigh impossible to read the caption on avatars at times and that can be irritating.

    There is nothing about not posting objectifying images of women. That's an enforced rule that should probably be explicitly added.

    I'd personally also like something about shirtless guys being added to the list. They are usually either a guy overcompensating by spending too much time in the gym and showing it off to broadcast that they are still manly or someone who is just gross. I don't want to see either, but maybe that's just me.

    I'm sure people have other additions or clarifications they think should be made.

    Probably agree on the one about objectifying women, although to honest someone who used an avatar like that would probably get himself banned before long anyway...

    We definetely should have more rules, regulations, principles, standards, norms or whatever else is needed on this planet or in this little place in the web to prevent people from thinking on their own! (and I won't type anything about adding dumb people to that infamous list!) :rolleyes:.
    I know that living together might need some basics, but first of all it might help if everyone would follow Aretha's advice: "THINK"!

    I think the rules regarding avatars are fine as they are. I'm aware that many women have complained about penis pics in avatars, but to my knowledge, nobody has complained about panties or asses, until now.

    This is an ironic thing to post on a site dedicated to male chastity where a frequent reason given why male chastity is needed is because a man needs a woman to make the decisions regarding the use of his sexual organs because the man is bad at making them himself.

    That nobody has complained doesn't mean that nobody else thinks it. They might not want to say something that could offend the horde of sissies who think that everyone needs to see them displaying themselves regardless of whether anyone wants to or not. I've had a few people express similar sentiments in conversation though I'll leave it to those people to chime in if they want.

    Maybe I'm biased here, considering My avatar would be banned under the proposed guidelines... ;)

    But this issue has been discussed numerous times. An easy solution (no additional regulations) that has been tossed around is creating a 'Vanilla' version of the site. It'd reduce the visual aspects of CM by presenting a somewhat text-only format.

    Perfect for those who'd rather not view adult-themed images on an adult-themed site.

    I like that there's a consent prompt for the gallery. Perhaps there should be one on the landing page for new users, as well.

    I myself have no opinion on seeing a shirtless male, in shape or not, although I can see nothing wrong with getting a glimpse of the male form in a tiny avatar that you wouldn’t see at a public beach, besides the fact that ....C’mon man

    I am pretty liberal but there is a limit of how much every one needs protecting and conforming to others sensitivities. This makes me feel bad, this upsets me, lets take a shot of reality and realize that the world doesn’t owe anyone a perfect internet experience.

    This sight has chosen to go female centric , that is fine if the owners want it that way, but I think if pressed any further than it is, it would be a bit draconian.

    When I buy a power tool it comes with several pages of small printed safety precautions that I must read before operating said power tool- I simply disregard that and so far I haven’t cut off anything important or shot a nail through my head. Hence I probably checked the ‘I accept’ box
    (If there was one) after the rules section here and was on my way. I know it said something to the effect of don’t be mean to people but other than that I really don’t remember (but I don’t always remember my kids name either). My point is I signed into a kink specific adult site, like was said earlier- c’mon man!

    I suppose the wording on my avatar could be considered a caption. That is actually the logo/brand affixed to the top of HER HTv3.

    CM is definitely adult oriented. If you are all that offended there are other places/forums to go to.

    I'm not sure where the "No captions" part came from. I think in the past people might have been uploading porn photos with captions. Along with all the penis avatars it was probably a bit much.

    Why have a bunch of rules?

    How about just adding one...

    The site owner reserves the right to deem any avatar unacceptable.

    This covers all possibilities and makes it clear that if something is offensive it’s gone. Plus it’s simple and makes the rest of the “rules” guidelines.

    The problem with that is it puts all the onus on the site owner, who probably has better things to do than monitor avatars. Having a few rules means that people can police themselves to some degree. It's like saying "Why have a speed limit? Let the cops figure it out." Yeah, sure, if you want to create mayhem.

    Besides, the site owner already has that option without needing to overtly state it.
