i give it 5 blue balls out of 5. a really great movie for old and soon to be new Trek heads. i took my Mother and sister to see this for Mother's Day and the they loved it also. my Mom just turned 70 years old. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScHxUopDlKc this clip is better http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7w4vk5OZmn8
Based on the previews it seems very much against Gene Roddenberry's original vision for the series. It may bring in new fans, but to fans of what will become known as "True" Star Trek it will be an abomination.
Great trailer. Can't wait to see it. I Disagree with sub4madam. I'm a long time hard core Trekkie from the sixties series on up. Had the uniform, went to all the rallies. I don't think Star Trek is changing as it is more evolving to fit the interests of different generations. Is it what Gene had in mind? Probably not. But that was 40 years ago. What was for the most part science fiction then is science fact now. Same for the new movie. Fiction now, fact????
I agree with imkink4u, i think the original vision might have changed, only in that technology has made a huge difference for what film makers can/can't do. If they had ILM back then doing the stuff they do now, the original ST might have been better. I'm also a long time trekkie. There are so many Trek shows, and having watched nearly everything (except "enterprise"), I was very entertained and had a smile on my face the whole time! I really enjoyed the subtle jokes and they did a great job playing off the fact that the characters will become the people we see in the orig. ST. I'd see it again in theatres.
Go where no man.. Saw it last evening in the City - give it five excellents. Only have one question but can't spoil anything - so maybe later on we talk.
Can anybody tell me why it's just called "Star Trek" without any adornment? Possible suggestions: "Star Trek - The Next-After-Next generation" "Star Trek - the Very-Much-in-Motion Picture" "Son of Star Trek" Has Hollywood totally given up on its sequelling paradigm?
New director, New Actors, More Action - and the result is a really cool new "Star Trek"! Hope they plan on doing more movies and/or series with this staff.
It`s the best star trek film in a long time to come out. 10 out of 10 blue. balls :whipbang: This is an order you must go see it at the pictures you will love it. :loveCM:
I can’t wait to see the movie. As a long trek fan I’m expecting good things and I'm also a big fan of Zackary Quito from Heroes. Things have to move on and develop just look at the last 2 James Bonds, They we’re different from any before but we’re Hugh successes. I’m also biased as I’m a big fan of Daniel Craig, born just down the road from where I live.
Mistress and i saw the movie on Sunday and W/we absolutely loved it. some true fans might not approve of deviations from the original Star Trek universe but W/we didn't mind at all. New life has been breathed into Star Trek and W/we're both hoping for a new TV series. It's great to have all the original characters back...and young. Uhuru is HOT!
I'm fairly certain the reason for this is because it is somewhat of a reboot of the series (akin to the Batman reboot) rather than a sequel or prequel to previous Trek movies. The sequel to this one will likely carry on with the "Star Trek: XYZ" style of titling.
It was amazing. I've watched Star Trek for years. Not a big fan of the old stuff, TNG onwards though. I only wish they could some how re make all the Star Trek episodes with those graphics and the style of acting. Good stuff can't wait for more.
This is the first movie I ever attended that received a standing ovation at the end. My brother who lives in another state said that there was a standing ovation when he attended as well.
Yea, but still no Yeoman Janice Rand. I had a REAL thing for her. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Janice_Rand
