Sex can be complicated

    ... and that's okay.

    I've been thinking about this quite a bit lately. The judgement surrounding ourselves and our partners when it comes to enjoying sex seems overwhelmingly present - no matter what role you play in life or how close you are in most moments as a couple. There are times when we are our own worst enemies when it comes to teasing out the details of how our relationships work. I know pet and I are guilty of that more often than we'd like, but I'm hopeful that awareness will lend itself towards progress.

    Sex doesn't have to be perfect, but we do have to talk about it. It's a healthy way to ensure everyone's needs are being met. An honest conversation about sex can be scary but it can help bring you and your partner much closer together by bringing some much needed clarity to the situation.

    While researching this topic, I came across another excellent Ted^x talk. The speaker is Sarah Byrden. I thought her presentation was thought-provoking and agreed with many of her thoughts on this matter. There were so many good quotes, but I thought the way she called attention to some societal sexual woes was spot on:

    "We are simultaneously, without realizing it, being bounced off the walls between pornography and puritanism. No wonder sex is complicated - and it's not our fault."

    Very interesting. I think that may be why many of those that engage in extracurricular activities
    are happier and more sane than those that don't. We talk and communicate more and don't
    hide stuff under rug. We talk about what we feel and accept all the differences we have. We
    do learn to relate to others and enjoy doing so.;-)

    Ted Talks are great!
    We have seen that lady talk before (not in person, on TT).

    Open, honest, respectful & continuous conversation about ones relationship is vital for success. Shedding light on sex ... well ... brings it out of the shadows.

    Sex is not about knowing what we’re doing; it is about knowing what we’re feeling and learning to trust that… Sex is not a place for us to know. It is a place for us to come alive and discover – and in the end, we hold the keys to this cage.

    I would say I am having a first hand experience with that right now. The timing of the post
