Got a Jailbird a couple years ago, but recently have noticed that no matter how hard I try to assure the security screw is securely screwed, over the course of a couple weeks or so, it manages to work itself loose, forcing me to tighten it again. Whether this is due to the threading wearing out or just noticing this due to longer lock up times, I would like to not have to re-tighten it so often.

Other than permanent solutions like loctite, JB weld, etc., what can be done to help keep the screw from loosening but still allow relatively easy removal when allowed?

You could use a drop of blue loctite, it's not permanent and designed to be removable.

Clean the threads of your screw and the theads of your base ring. Over time dirt and oils get in the threaded area and will allow the screw to come out easily.

A couple drops of this stuff will last you two or three screws / unscrews. It's strong enough that you'll need some leverage to get the screw loose, but designed to be non-permenant, so it does let loose once you start it, and can be fully washed off the threads and reapplied when needed. Disclaimer: my lock downs are not generally longer than a week. But based on how tight the screw still is at the end, I see no reason it would let up until it's meant to.

I have run into the same issue. My wonderful wife puts clear nail polish on the threads before tightening the screw fully.
