I have been wearing a 50mm round metal base ring and it has been okay. I bought a new cage with one of the more oval shape that you see that also had a metal 50mm cage. The new set was super comfortable until it came off.

Is that normal? Or when you go from round ring to oval do you go down a size?

My oval works fairly well in same size as round. I find ovals are more comfortable. But they do seem to have more space on the sides, so maybe that makes it too loose for you.

I think it;s different for everyone. I had awful problems with round rings, almost gave up trying chastity. Then I got an oval ring and everything is perfect. I did get a little smaller oval ring though, so it might be a combo of that and the shape.

So we have tried about about 6 different cage designs, I find though the round rings are more secure, the oval rings are definitely more comfortable. The key is the gap between the cage and the ring for us. Too wide of a gap and the boys will have a tendency to escape. This is especially true as you work down to a shorter cage length.

My first and subsequent cage purchases were all oval and contoured and for me that seems to be the most comfortable. That decision was based on years of wearing steel cock and base rings that were round and flat. For me extended wearing of the base ring seemed to apply pressure to a nerve in my inner thigh causing some numbing sensation in my leg and groin. I've been caged 24/7 for almost the entirety of 2020 without that issue.
Hope this helps and good luck

Much prefer the oval/ergonomic style than the round I feel the oval/ergonomic is so much more comfortable

It’s all down to your person preference and your anatomy, for me the anatomical rings allow just enough room for my ball to pop through the ring and cage space, it’s what works best for you.
