My current belt was powder coated which is flaking. I am thinking about getting another one. Are the rolled edges worth it?
I'd say they totally are. I suspect it depends on one's anatomy, and I'm still making friends with my BBZ, but I can't imagine NOT having the rolled edge. As it is, I get occasional pinching as my slightly paunchy anatomy interacts with the belt. But I've been grateful on multiple occasions for the very slight "easing" of that edge. YMMV.
Jamie we must be built about the same. My dad body over hanging the belt is an issue at times. I fixed the pinching you mention by wearing my leather over top of the BBCS. No pinching and keeps the shirt tail in. If it were not for the powder coat coming off I may not even be thinking on this. Thank for your reply
The rolled edges are fantastic. Just a heads up, depending on the age of your current belt, the new belts are a bit thinner than they were years ago, the one I originally bought in 2017 was made of thicker steel. Note it’s not an issue for security, just a heads up so you aren’t surprised!
I wish I had rounded edges, I thought is wasn't necessary, but I regret it now..... But did not powder coat it, nice blank stainless steel is nice, pure and rough.
I got my BehindBarz belt a few months ago, and love it! I also have a nontrivial amount of paunch, and so the edges of the belt dig into my skin even though I got the rolled edge option. I got some plastic protectors for car door edges, and now the belt is super comfortable for all-week wear.
I wish I had gotten the rolled edges. I also wish that there was some sort of a liner. After wearing the belt for 24 to 48 hours It starts to hurt and I take the belt off. I really want to be able to wear the belt all the time, but so far have not been able to.
I'm also still trying to get to the point where I can wear the belt for more than about24 hours. the suggestion in this post to run a towel or flannel under the belt after showering (or even dry not after showering) has been helpful for me. I still can't get the correct angle from the belt to the cage though.
Thanks for the info. I really want to be able to wear the belt for extended periods of time but I am not sure this will ever become a reality.
Have you tired with the belt closed, standing on the front (cage section) and pulling or pushing on the waist band to change the angle? That made a world of difference for me!
I have used at the beginning a bicycle inner tube cut to length and slipped over the belt to see if that helped but never really liked any liners as they tend to stick to the body more. It did work though as did another try using an old cloth belt from my keyholders dress which was black and when slit at one end the belt could be slipped over the steel waistband and trimmed off to size as it is hollow inside the cloth belt.
thanks. I did press down on that and change the angle somewhat, but I wasn't brave enough to actually stand on it. Perhaps I'll try more force, since the thing that's preventing me from wearing it more is the "tang" from the belt to the cage digging into my lower abdomin.
