The best you can do is put a location in a search and if someone mentioned it a discussion the thread will show

 

It would also depend on how precise a location members enter into their profiles, if they specify a location at all.

Just putting your town is ok for most of us IF you have not posted pictures that give too much away.

 

Depends how big the place you live is. I live in a fairly small place so wouldn't want to put that on here.

 

Its not just the size of the place you live in or the population.
Sheffield in the UK the 3rd largest city in England (if you dont count MBCs) where I live is often described by local people in the know as the biggest village in the country. We probably only have 1 or two degerees of separation here. If you don't know a person personally you probably know someone who does.

 

well I sayed that cos I was silly once and told somebody by mistake and he was a nuisance and we had the police and that.

Personally, I'd love to meet up with like-minded people in my area, so I would love this feature. Of course, it shouldn't be mandatory for users to add a specific location. Sometimes just a general region (e.g., "the midwest") is good enough to strike up a conversation. Then if private messages go well, I'm more than happy to get more specific or meet somewhere in a safe/public space.
