Do not order with the screw with the 3 holes the drive broke and it only comes with 1, when intially assembling, off of me thank god. The holes in the screw are boogered from me trying to use other tools to get it out. But the nubs on the driver are very flimsy. Just thought everyone should know before messing around and inadvertently getting permanently locked. Some find fun

My device (a BA -15) arrived yesterday. We have our grandson in the house and I/we were waiting till Friday to open it and she was going to put it on me and lock it up. Your post prompted me to go ahead and open the package and inspect it. Sure enough it came with the same security screw and tool. We will be traveling for the next 2 month on Sunday so I need to find a replacement for the screw and tool. I did assemble mine and the screw does not seat as deeply as yours also the product listing shows the screw coming down from the top the actual device has it entering front to rear as your photo shows.

I messed around with the screw and drive, the problem I see is the drive too and I put mine in the base ring and the second time I tried to remove it, BAM same issue. I had no problem as it was just in the ring alone but if it were in an assembled cage. MAJOR problem. I will shop for an alternant that is a true security screw.

I just received my BAW cage a few weeks ago and it has a different security screw. Mine is just a plain button head cap screw with a small point in the middle of the opening on the top where the tool goes. The tool is a simple Allen key with a small hole in the end designed to fit over the point in the screw cap. It's quite robust.

You are facing a real dilemma of risk. Fall prey to your desires and put on the cage and hope you can get it off later or don't risk it. Personally, I think I would temp fate in your place despite the possible consequences.

    ChasteJase is correct.

Simply take the screw and driver and bring it to a reasonably comprehensive hardware store. (Usually the fastener section) Just tell them you want a better screw and driver. You do NOT need to get the same design. Just the screw size. Who cares if it's a torx head or what not? Just give the tool to your keyholder.

I sure as heck wouldn't trust my health to a flimsy Chinese bit. Not worth it.

3mm .5 thread pitch. Length varies.

Oh and I'm not even going to go with a security screw unless I can find like a keyrex screw, min order quantity is like 1000 or more. Just bought some of the tamper paint that I'll put on the head of the bolt, or I'll let her do it.

Tamper paint/ink is a good idea. This way you can use a high quality hardened screw with a torx head or allan head and never have to worry about it.

A good hardware store will have one and sell you ONE for only a couple of bucks. The driver (if you don't have one already in your toolbox) maybe a few bucks.

If you cross thread a small screw like this it for sure would place too much torque on the rather delicate fit of the driver tool. It us the same with a Lori device. You have to practice to get the tool and screw head alignment perfect or risk fouling it. Remember the screws are tiny and the tool even smaller.

I just received a second BAW device I had ordered a while back and this one came with the three hole screw, but it also two driver tools. There were also instructions in the package not to tighten the screw too tightly.

I tried using the security screw that came with my first BAW cage since I don't trust the three hole screw after this discussion, but the head of the screw from my first cage is slightly larger and doesn't fit into the recess of the mating parts and only allows a few threads to engage. I'm worried about stripping the threads so I just went with the three hole security screw and am giving it a go. The risk for me is that I can never seem to remember which way to turn the screw to loosen it and sometimes tighten it further.

Glad to hear I must have been the first to test it. He did say he was going to add another driver.

I got a BA25 a while ago, with the 3 hole security screw. Am wearing it now, self locked. I guess I'm living dangerously. Thinking of emailing him with instructions to only mail replacement drivers to my sometimes keyholder

It turns out the gap is top big (he doesn't measure the gap at the , but part way down. I ordered a 25" gap and got .5") which is a good thing because it means the device will slip off. I have put the device on and off less then a dozen times and both drivers (mine came with 2) are done. That's in spite of being very careful and never cross threading.

I recommend taking @Linjx014 advice and don't buy this lock.

One of my drivers now has bent posts where it engages with the screw. It still works, but will probably break soon. I agree these tools are bad.

U can order them off Amazon. Just measure the length. It's 3mm .5 pitch I believe.

@Linjx014 Does the head fit all the way into the hole on the cage for the original screw or did you need to file it down to get it to recess?

It fit. Might depend on the screw but brand tho.
