Does anyone else have this problem? Both GPs I consulted have said circumcision is the only remedy; I would like to find a gentler solution.

Masturbation is the other treatment with persistent movement of the foreskin. You don't have to orgasm. Kind of a pain pleasure thing.

The skin can stretch if done gradually AND consistently.......Look up "foreskin restoration" on the web

If 2 GP's have said surgery is the only solution I'd be inclined to believe them

Phimosis can range from mild to severe, most cases can be resolved without surgery. Surgery is generally reserved for the most severe cases where it's impossible to retract the foreskin significantky without damage/pain.

You can try stretching (GENTLY - you do not want to tear anything) but I don't think you'll have too much success.

Thank you for your replies. Why did MY doctor not prescribe masturbation? But Mauiperson, you may have a point: it could be reduced use that has caused the problem.
Lazlo, I will follow your suggestion.
My case is not severe; I can retract when flaccid. I agree, scot-sub that circumcision is the easy, logical solution, but my willy is already diminishing with age; its not the moment to reduce it further LOL

Ok...I think masturbation with natural oils and possibly steroid creams can help relieve this issue if phimosis is mild. If restrictive and masturbation hasn't work..you can consider circumcision. If you do, laser circumcision is highly effective in treating this condition.

You have to weigh quick resolve of this situation against your desire to preserve foreskin, which seems to be the movement now. But if you don't get this fixed you are at increased of infections, everything from UTIs, STIs, to regular standard penile tissue infections at a much higher rate than not having this problem resolved. I would see if you can consult directly with a urologist a skip the GP.

Circumcision is fine. It's uncomfortable for a few days and then back to normal, without the irritation of the foreskin swelling up.

Thanks Maui for your advice. I have already started daily exercises which seem to be having a good effect. I have ordered a special cream online which claims to increase elasticity.

Thanks Lester for the reassurance but I will keep circumcision as the fall-back option
