So, was over on FL and saw an ad for a new remote control chastity device with an electronic lock that they're taking pre-orders for. I went to their web page and they had a QA, and this one nearly had me laughing out loud-

Q: What if battery dies when being locked? Will I be locked forever then?
A: Chastity shuts off when not using unlocking feature, so the battery will last for up to a year. You are able to see the battery level and it is wise to change the battery when the battery gets to around 5% before locking yourself again.

-I think the short answer is... yes .

I'm not criticizing the idea. I think the idea of remote control chastity is great. I'm writing a novella that features it, but if you're making a real world device maybe you design the most fail-safe system possible. If their design has a battery that lasts a year and allows for remote battery checking why not just code it so that it opens when the battery is low? Or better yet add a key release for emergencies.

We are using a key safe made for house key access. It is very well built, thought through and works extremely well. It’s changed my mental state not having access to the key anymore.

if you divulge any specific information or pointers to this device, I’ll let you know what we’ve been using. I’m curious but not enough to go search FetLife randomly. ;)

the thought of remote chastity is great, certainly for those who travel a lot or online relationships/ KH but yes it does see a little silly to not be able to get out if the battery dies lol.

still I can imagine a few KH liking that option, how close to zero before they permit recharging lol

Has there really EVER been a belt or device that in reality could not be removed if needed? i think not.

You have to be willing to damage the device though...

Crazy idea: charging port accessible while it's locked on. You wouldn't want it to stop reporting to the KH, would you?

We are hopefully soon getting a safe that can only be opened by a text from My Lady whilst the safe is connected to a power supply. The safe will also be accessale by key but my Lady will be keeping those in the US.

Having a device ,and I think I can safely assume an expensive device, that can only be opened remotely and then only if an internal battery has sufficient charge looks like a potential waste of a considerable amount of money when it eventually has to be cut off.

We’ve been using this for Locktober:

    https://www.igloohome.co/products/keybox-2/
The IglooHome Smart KeyBox is well built, well designed, and pretty cool from a technology standpoint.

We changed things up this year so access to the key is no longer on the honor system. I’ve got a tamperproof emergency key, numbered-sealed, and then in a small packet signed by my wife.

    She likes the KeyBox.

I'm sure it wasn't hard to track down, but I didn't want to place links which would act as advertisements for several reasons- 1) I have no idea whether it's a serious device- in other words, whether like the original CB-2000 and knockoffs it's easy to just slip out of. 2) Even if it is, it seems quite expensive. 3) The point of the thread- if it really relies solely on battery power, and the failure mode is lock, not unlock, funny as it sounds, it's a design flaw.

You're right, there isn't a device made that would withstand what a hundred bucks in your pocket and a trip to the hardware store could do to it. Still, who wants to cut off a device?
