Grumpy is more of a low level anger that is not explosive enough to scare people but has the potential to amuse because of the commitment to being grumpy by the person involved. It may be more of an age thing than a gender as you will find many grumpy older women and men alike.

Yeah Winston.?.. the term, 'grumpy' ?
My father rip was an 'old grump' in his later days...which is a descriptive that adds a bit of compassion and humour to the presence of a negative outlook.

Ofcourse saying a beautiful woman is grumpy may be contrary to us boys chastie-ness. But I see the term as endearing. Maybe another term would be more appropriate...'moody'?
But my experience is that most women are grumpy at some point. Not all. I

When my wife used to get 2-3 days of pmt, well grumpy was an understatement!

I have never used the word moody but imagine that if you called a woman that when she is upset would be a great way to get a glass of wine thrown in your face while officially upgrading her current emotional state from grumpy to angry. This is just a theory though. I leave the experimenting up to you.

I find that if I fall into too much rumination, it leads to grumpiness. It's something I'm working on, but I can dwell on unpleasant stuff like a champ.

Some times I will speak out of turn and if she gets "grumpy" its her way of showing her displeasure. It can end with my apology like that or in a punishment later.
