I have been contemplating getting a 'Jailbird' for some time now. But what confuses me are the measurements in the specifications. I am not quite sure what the default device in the display image amounts to, so I'm not quite sure what to go by. I am largely unfamiliar with imperial measurements, being in Australia. I wish it could be displayed in XX.XX inches, instead of XX/3 quarters of XX/whatever.

It would be nice if MM had a visual example of a completed model that shows it based on the dimensions selected, but there may be reasons not to I guess.

What are the typical inside diameters of devices such as the A231 etc? When I tried this device (link)https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2019-Ne...olor-A-/223613621936?var=&hash=item34106916b0, it was a very snug fit, but didn't cut off circulation. I would like to know roughly what the internal diameter of the gap at the bottom of the cage in the link is if anyone knows please.

I have ordered custom devices before, and ended up purchasing the wrong size ones. If I am going to purchase a JB, I want to get it right the first time obviously.

    Cheers.

I guess no info is available, and my unfamiliarity with obscure imperial measurements will deter me from looking into getting one.

Have you tried using an online measurement conversation? Loads of free sites will do the math for you.

I found the following in 30 seconds on the web. You could also contact the company directly for support. You’ll find custom manufactures like Mature Metal are worth it because of their customer support. It isn’t all about the website.

Mark from MaleChastityNow used to have conversions in his web-form drop downs.

here’s a link to table in PDF
    https://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/docs/documents/751/inches_to_mm_conversion.pdf

This table didn’t copy all that well.

    Thanks for posting those comparisons.

It'd be nice if MM adjusted their webpage to have an option to display metric measurements in addition to imperial. It's almost like another language to me.

I have a queens keep from MM. You can buy from them sizing rings. There basically O rings that you can try on to get your measurements correct instead of using string ans such. Its much more accurate. In fact I wore the base ring for a couple of days. They have a measurement guide that is pretty good for a starting point. Its still hard to hit the nail on the head on the first try and there will always be adjustments necessary. They get the adjustments done quickly. One thing they don't mention is on there cage length. Order it 1/2 inch shorter than they tell you because the cage normally slides down a bit. As far as conversions google it.

Yeah. Well. Hope the conversion table helps. The conversion is defined as 25.4 mm to 1 inch.

    Rounding...
    1/8” is 3 mm.
    6.0” is 15-1/4 cm ;-)
    2” is 51 mm
    1-3/4” is 44.5 mm
    1-1/2” is 38 mm

Perhaps if you contact Mature Metal, you can mention your recommendation in passing.

Now, for real fun, try translating between jewelry gauge sizes, imperial and metric!

Maybe my phone is fancy, but if I put in a measurement, the word to...a ton of options spring up on google, you can pick one, and boom, instant answer. You could also try physically measuring instead of eyeballing what you think it might be, which I highly recommend.

Email and tell them they're losing a potential sale because they don't give the measurements in metric.

They can't fix what they don't know is a problem.
(which is true of most things, not just websites)

(If this is inappropriate/off topic, feel free to move/delete).

At the moment, it is hard to determine exactly which size is right for me, as I experience discomfort in cold conditions with significant growth (to the point where I have to immediately remove a 45mm ring).

I cannot draw the line at say 43mm, as this too will become uncomfortable at times. There seems to be no set radius for a ring at this stage, as my requirements can go from a 40mm ring right up to one of about 48mm on very rare occasions. If I experience severe discomfort, then I have to remove the device.

I am curious as to whether any other users of this forum has a similar problem.

I have also noticed that short open cages are not really any good for me, due to leftovers when I wake up.

    @MT206
I don’t know if you realize, but you were lucky enough to have the company mature-metal respond to this thread.

Go email them as they asked you to!
I had said the best part of going with a custom maker is their customer service. :)

They have many models with various
amounts of coverage to meet your needs. My experience is with another company, but they added extra rods. Also, you can always purchase additional base-rings.

There’s actually someone to talk to behind the website. :)

Be aware that the thickness of the base ring is quite important for comfort as well.
A thinner ring will have greater point pressure, and a thicker ring will spread the load better.

I have two base rings that are exactly the same internal diameter, but the thicker ring is so much more comfortable.

Also consider the gap size, especially if the discomfort is on the underside of your scrotum.

I've actually done some calculations, and with the price amounting to around $600 in AUD, I'll have to watch every cent I spend. After some analysis, I think I've gotten close to the correct size.

But I don't want to repeat the error I made with the 'Cherry Keeper'. MM have been ok in regards to answering questions so far, and I have managed to converted the imperial measurements to something I'm more familiar with.
