Permanently attached all 3 ring set pieces together making them one single ring. Alignment pins were bobbed and rough tips polished. Oval assembly pin was sanded down to accommodate the Contenders round receptical. Total weight of the device with lock 3.5 ounces.
So I have worn this version for a week. This ring design has held up well. Its very comfortable and works well with my Contender. I imagine it would work well with a Jail Bird too. The ring is super light weight. That along with the added thickness helps prevent excessive spinning and sagging. The gap can be adjusted by fiddling with the pins and spacers. The only tricky part is drilling the lock hole. The hole placement varies with the spacer/gap combination you use. Using the longest pin enables you to use the original lock hole for hanging a tag or pendant.
Nice idea. What’s the weight of the black version? If you could eliminate the lock with a screw, the weight would come down even more.
It weighs 2.5 ounces without the Abus lock. 3.5 ounces with the lock. The security screw can only be used with a metal assembly pin. These CB styles only use a plastic pin. If you like to use plastic locks that would keep the weight down.
More customizing and fine tuning of the base ring. I've beveled the inside and outside edges. This removes the square edges and gives it more of a donut shape. This should make it more comfortable when whearing tighter pants. These solid CB rings are easily modified with a dremel.
