For some product development related to, well, the very core of the reason this website exists, I am looking for somebody with experience in hardware design - prototyping with arduino and getting that to something that can be produced in quantities you'd expect to sell in the chastity market. Send me a PM for details if you think that description fits you...

I have experience with embedded systems but would likely shy from any project where you picked the platform without knowing the project requirements.

There are a ton, and I mean 1000's, of micro computing platforms. Each one has its place.

And if you want WiFi or Bluetooth, Arduino might not be the way to go.

Pick any platform you want - I do want to be able to control it from an iPhone (and/or Android) app with Bluetooth LE. The choice of hardware is up to whomever ends up working with me here.

Again, the platform must match the system requirements.

Not trying to be a jerk just saying..

It would be like picking a Mac or Windows without knowing what you are using it for.

And I still agree with you :)

Pragmatic advice, @Temper. That said, the particle.io P1 System-on-a-Chip (SoC) might be a good fit for the initial small run of beta units - it provides wifi + bluetooth LE + an optional arduino-like programming environment + simple management from particle.io's optional internet-of-things cloud.

For short-term prototyping, the other particle.io breakout boards are super easy to use.

    Here's the datasheet for the P1: https://docs.particle.io/datasheets/p1-datasheet/

Info below copied from the particle.io web store page on the P1 (https://store.particle.io/):

P1s ship in strips of 10. Price is per module.

Thinking of transitioning from your Photon-powered prototype into mass production? The P1 is your answer. It's Particle's tiny Wi-Fi module that contains both the Cypress Wi-Fi chip and a reprogrammable STM32 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller. The P1 comes pre-loaded with Particle firmware and includes our basic cloud service.

The P1 has a built-in antenna and a uFL connector, so you don't have to stress over the optimization of RF designs. This module is FCC-certified, and has additional external flash to accommodate super-hardcore projects.

Buying more than 50 or want these in a manufacturing ready reel format? See our Wholesale store. Due to high demand, we are out of stock and will have stock again in December.

    • Wi-Fi specs:
    • Single band 2.4GHz IEEE 802.11b/g/n
    • Supports wireless data rates of up to 65Mbit/s
    • Ultra low power sleep, stand-by and stop modes
    • Supports Open, WEP, WAPI, WPA and WPA2-PSK WiFi security modes
    • Microcontroller Specs:
    • STM32F205 120Mhz ARM Cortex M3
    • 1MB flash, 128KB RAM
    • Shipping in multiples of 10 in cut tape packaging.
    P1 module dimensions are: 0.787"(28mm) (W) x 1.102"(20mm) (L) x 0.0787"(2.0mm) (H) +/-0.0039"(0.1mm) (includes metal shielding).

I don't believe particle.io has Bluetooth but would be a good fit. They also have a cellular option that is super cheap monthly.

Although cellular is indeed pretty interesting, it has to be available world-wide. bluetooth LE and wifi are likely better options for now

Just wanted to throw my hat in here I have a bit of experience with embedded systems especially with Bluetooth Low Energy/Bluetooth Smart.

Send me a PM if you're still looking for any help or anything.
