Sorry I had no idea where to put this..

I'm looking around for a box to store the spare key in. The clincher would be that this box is locked via a padlock, not a typical integrated style of a usual cash box or similar..

This is because then the spare key can go inside the box and my KH has the other key and the key to the padlock lockbox.. then it's possible to open the padlock so I can get to the key for cleaning/ shaving etc when KH says. Then when I'm done simply click the lock back on by the agreed time and send proof.

It's not fool-proof and there obv will be temptation but it's much better than me having access to a spare key 24/7 which has worked up to now but we're both ready for the next step.

A real simple way to make something like that is to take a piece of copper pipe about 3 or 4 inches long and then carefully flatten it with a vise but leave space inside that the key will slide in. Then take one end and flatten it closed and on the other end drill a hole through it so that once you slip your key in, then you put the pad lock through the hole to lock it in there. Also make it the responsibility of he person locked up to keep it nice and shinny by polishing it.

I’ve read somewhere that a person took a Tic-Tac container, drilled a hole through it towards the top, then put the key in and secured it with a security tag. Small, accessible and accountability for cheating as a broken tag means the key was accessed.

The container could be anything that the key could fit into and drilled.

If you do go with the lock box that uses a padlock you can also integrate the security tag for accountability.

Some great ideas thank you, still think a small jewellry type box would be the best bet.

I didn't design this to lock but I could easily modify it to do so. The box is only about 4" long. Message me if you are interested.

I bought a small, simple wooden box from Michaels or AC Moore or one of those places, then screwed in some rings into the box spaced so that a a padlock between them would keep the box locked tight. It works well!

Have you ever heard of the kitchen safe I would prefer this method for home use. It is absolutely not cheat able you set a day's or hours time frame lock it and after that you have to destroy the box if you could not wait for normal release. Runs on battery and without it stuck. The only problem no way for a emergency without destroying.

We have purchased some small envelopes from Office Depot and some security seals (like the ones that void a warranty if tampered with) from Amazon. The key is taped to an old credit card to keep it from flexing and sealed in the envelope. P signs the seal. Emergency key kept in wallet. Opening envelope without permission or in a non emergency situation will result in a punishment caning.

What would be Uber cool would be a Bluetooth lock book controllable online.

That looks like a nice unit. What I had in mind was a padlock, key box, or safe with an Internet connection that would permit the keyholder to lock and unlock online. She could combine this with FaceTime to remotely supervise the unlocking, removal, inspection/uncaged activity, replacement, and relocking of the cage. Secure, and somewhat humiliating.

I think something like this already exists. A few things that (mostly) rely on a blutooth connection with. .. I dunno, probably some phone app. I remember seeing something like that discussed here.

I do not have a clue where an ex of mine got them from. Clear plastic box once closed the small ratchet like lugs inside prevent opening destroying. She did a few doodles on bits of paper and pasted those to the inside and took photos. If I had replaced the box I could not reproduce the stuck in paper.

I ws locked with almost access to the key and she could be miles away and know that had i wanted to I could not get the key without her knowing about it.

The pipe and security tag idea is probably best and easiest to use, but when she was interested enough to go to to all that trouble who was I to argue.

I have also been looking for a cheap remotely controlled lock box and I have decided to make one myself!

I have purchased (all from ebay so far):

1 x RFID drawer lock (runs on 3v and is battery operated and has a low battery warning system built into the unit) £10
1 X 12v light sensitive relay module ( has a light sensor diode on a wire, so can be placed where you need it)

1 x 12v power adapter (wall wart as some would say)

I will be purchasing either a 4" or 6" petty cash box (depending on the size of the components - will wait until they arrive first!) - oh and they also come in baby pink for those that would like that colour! £7 - £10 and the cheapest pay as you go mobile phone and car charger I can find - seen them as cheap at £12.

I intend to modify the cash box and the RFID latch so that the catch for the rfid locking mechanism will engage with the drawer lock and still be overridden by the barrel lock on the cash box (just a bit of cutting and positioning) - I will also set the light sensitive diode module to trigger the solenoid latch inside the RFID lock circuitry and secure that diode directly onto or above the screen of the burner phone, everything will be plugged into the wall wart and secured so that only the phone and the key would be visible when the box is opened - so when my Lady allows me to take it off to wash or go swimming she can just either text or call the burner phone and when the screen lights up it will trigger the circuit and let me in - I really hope I can fit it all into a 4" box as I could set it up to run off batteries and take it with me when I go to the gym/pool etc - in theory could take it anywhere - the phones I've seen are so basic they say the battery will last 8 days so would be very handy - not yet got any pics but I'll be happy to show you how to make one - I could have made it using just the components but I'd have to wait for them to arrive from china so I did it a bit of a lazy way - hope this helps guys!

2nd for the master lock key safe, we used to use one and keep a set of keys in it and have it in the drawer, if I had to ask for the combination then madam would change it before replacing the keys.
