Of everything I have ever tried, I have to admit this is easily the best. So amazingly comfortable and easy to wear. I basically refuse to wear anything else now

My only regret is that I hate having to take it off to clean it... I could easily perma-lock this thing

Are there any materials I could use that would make it better in this regard?

    thanks

I totally agree. I finally found a fit, ring size specifically, that might allow longer term lock ups. I just wash frequently and be sure to dry off entirely. Any issue with cleaning may be a function of a resin cage design but the fit is worth it. Of course, i'm aiming at week long lockup with release to shave so not the degree you want.

The KH likes the metal cages since I can be basically abandoned in them for long stretches when the mood strikes

A cherry keeper in titanium should be perfect

I hear ya Mousjstr. Super comfy. Yet the texture of 3D printed plastic DOES collect tiny amounts of bacteria and decaying organic matter. Therefore, it simply has to get removed to be cleaned.

Here is an idea that works very well for me. Maybe you can have success with it. Since the Cherry Keepers are very approachable in price, I have more than one set of rings and cages. I remove one, shower, put on another one that is already clean and ready to go. This way I separate the cleaning from the wearing.

My cleaning regimen is VERY long--I soak overnight in hydrogen peroxide. So having the swap immediately ready is the best of all worlds for me: Lightweight, comfy, and still clean. It just means part of my day is an unlock and relock.

    I hope that helps.

And to Tasslave: Titanium sounds good. It MIGHT be a great solution. But weight and cost become HUGE factors as titanium is expensive, difficult to work with from a manufacturing standpoint and is much heavier than 3D plastic. Like you, I would really love it if a "Metal Cherry Keeper" was practical. I don't think it currently is, though. We can dream.

This might be the way I go with this... Swap to the steal cage next cycle and once the duplicate set comes in, just swap between the two

I also have two sets - one in white and one in black. I'll generally swap when the KH wife is in the mood for a change, which averages about every week. She feels the black set is my formal wear...

She prefers that I'm kept pretty clean, so the CK gets removed for my daily shower except for those random days where she tells me to skip taking it off. On those days I just scrub up as well as I can.

My deep cleaning is another approach discussed in another thread - some soak time in a bleach solution and then a final cleaning with a denture tab solution. This seems to be working out well.

I appreciate hearing your experience and happiness with the CK design. I have some pleasing news - the vapour sealed materials are going to be available soon. I've had some pieces with the PA12 smooth finish for a while, and they're pretty nice. Shapeways looks to be giving my shop access to the PA12 black smooth and their new vapour smoothed SLS in White and Black - I thought there would be colors, so I'm going to have to ask them about that.

Once those materials are finalized, I still have to go through every item in the shop and make them available in those materials, so that's going to take some time, but it will happen!

It means that those concerned about it not being "sealed" and not smooth enough can order the PA12 black smooth and have it smoother and sealed (i.e. won't absorb sweat)

Would be amazing, the only one more thing you can add is an anti pull out device…

Isn't the head lock sort of a anti-pullout device?

@MouseJstr I won't/can't speak for Josie, but in my experience "soon" in manufacturing means months....not weeks. And CERTAINLY not days.

And I am emphatically NOT criticizing EITHER Josie or Shapeways. Manufacturing new products takes a lot of time. Just learning how the new material reacts to temperature changes compared to the old material is a problem that has to get solved or mastered, for example.

Thanks Lazlo - in this case it actually means

"When JosieLynn can find time to modify and price every product in the shop for the new materials"

Shapeways has been printing this material and using this post-process for a while now, but they didn't offer it to marketplace shops because their wasn't much demand until I came along ... Apparently my little shop got noticed within Shapeways ~6 months ago, and my 2 year long request to have it added finally happened over the New Year.
