How would you explain the difference between male subs and slaves?

If I gave up my free will, I would be a slave. Unlikely to happen in my case, but never the less.

 

A dictionary will clarify the difference between "submissive" (noun) and "slave". Gender is moot, serving only to qualify one scenario of context.

In short though, both submit but a slave is doing so forcefully and regardless of their willingness to do so. Submissives who are not slaves chose to submit willingly.

 

The difference then is one of consent.

But is there is a grey area between those two definitions?
If a submissive agrees with a Dom that they won't have a safeword for a session, is the submissive then temporarily a slave?
The situation may be consensual, but even then, an act done past the sub's limits during the session would not be.
And would it also be the case if the Dom ignored a safeword?

Thinking of it this way, it's the integrity and actions of the Dom that defines whether the subject is their submissive or their slave, not what the submissive thinks or does.

Honestly, i'm content being whatever my Owner calls me. Sub, slave, sissy, or property, i will answer to any noun @MistressS uses.

I guess its all just a case of Semantics really, but my wife considers me her slave as in her words I gave away my autonomy the moment I first put a chastity device on for her.

 

My wife and are are mostly equals, though she definitely holds more power than I. This, of course, is because I give her more power by submitting to her. She is naturally more dominant and I am naturally more submissive.

"Slave" indicates a person in owned and holds no power in a relationship. That is certainly more extreme than someone being submissive in my mind.

 

There is also the factor of you choosing to hand over your autonomy to another. Slave seems to be more of a derogatory word for someone who is forced against their wishes in to submission for the benefit of another. A slave is a child who is kidnapped and sold in to sex trafficking ect. I wonder how a person from a race/ethnicity who was subjugated in to slavery but wants to be in a FLR or similar dynamic feels about the term and what they prefer to use.

 

A slave is property. But not exist rules for the difference.

Also in antiquity one slave owner was good and merciful, another was cruel. One real slave was as any member of the family, he had comfortable accommodation, he could communicate freely and speak his own opinions...

Another slave was as animal, he had forbidden to speak and he slept in the barn for cattle... (Because his master/mistress was cruel.)

Also in modern times, one servant had/has worse living conditions, how some slave in antiquity.

And in the femdom, it's only a matter of couple, their mutual agreement. And the whim of the lady. One strict lady whips her servant/sub every day, another lady whips her slave once a week...
