I think I have what is friction burn around my scrotum where the base ring goes. They are very small "cuts" with some red showing but extremely shallow. I am not sure what the cause is. I've been in chastity for the past week and a bit but remove it maybe once-twice a day for 10-15 mins. Sometimes it gets a bit uncomfortable so I put on some lotion around the ring and cage. Yesterday night when I took off the base ring I saw what I think were these friction burns and am just wondering what could've caused it. I am using a new cage off amazon and I don't feel any rough bits on the ring when I ran my finger along the inside. I applied some polysporin and vaseline and am refraining from putting the cage back on until it heals which seems like it should be a few days. How can I avoid this issue for the future? The ring is 50mm which is the largest I can see on most cages as is so I don't think its the sizing and I always seem to be able to get at least a finger though the bottom of the ring while wearing it. I read that once the skin heals it will be "tougher" and less likley to break again. Is this true? Is it safe to wear the cage before the burn fully heals? I feel a bit naked without it but don't want to risk infection or anything for a kink haha Thanks for any advice that you guys can give!
A base ring should be perfectly smooth mirror finish. Difficult to try to gauge this by running a finger along. If it isn't glossy smooth buy sheets of wet dry sandpaper 600 and 2000 grit. About the skin, petroleum jelly based ointments aren't great. A mild lotion is preferable. Myself I love Aveeno. You probably won't get an infection but let it heal before continue
If the ring doesn’t have any flaws and you aren’t having an allergic reaction to the metal, your skin will get used to it. It can be harder to acclimate in the winter, though. Your instinct is right to let it heal fully before wearing it again. Removing it frequently at first to check for abrasions is smart too. It sounds like you’re on the right path.
Do I use the 600 grit first or 2000 first? How will I be able to tell when I'm done. It's been like 15 years since I took Design/Tech lmao I have to sand it underwater right? I actually was using Aveeno the first few days but saw a thread that recommended vaseline.
Just keep the paper wet and start with the 600. Polishing paste is also a good idea, I have issues when the hair gets too long,
The 2000 grit will make it shine glossy to let you know it's finished. My ring is tight and a Aveeno lotion works for 6+ hours. Anything else failed for me. Petroleum jelly suffocates my skin causing hot spot.
In addition to the other suggestions, try a little coconut oil (if you're not allergic) on the base ring, that's helped for my lockees in the past.
I swear by a little Aquaphor when I'm feeling the burn. It petroleum-jelly based, so last long. But also has a lot of skin-friendly healing ingredients, so it always seems to heal any hotspots that do form.
take it off let it fully heal.. NO PAIN. If your balls are retracting.. Here is a solution. Works EVERY time soon as you feel pressure but one under your balls. Also helps to have boxers with the pouch to put the heat pack in. Feels great in the winter too. https://www.amazon.com/HotHands-Hand-Warmers-Odorless-Activated/dp/B0007ZF4OA
