I have the Ternence cage shown in the below picture. As you can see, the lock is sticking out a bit. Sometimes the pointy bits stick into the flesh of my underbelly. For example, when tying my shoelaces or when riding my bike. I was wondering, is it possible to file the pointy bits into a more rounded fashion? Or would that somehow compromise the use of the lock? I don't think it is a problem, but I am not much a DIY-er, and I don't want to damage something.

You can file them a little. On mine i put a bead of epoxy glue (araldite) over the top and that gave a smoothed finish.

I have the same arrangement and mine is filed down quite a lot. Still works good. My wife was the one who complained it dug into her when cuddling.

    Had this same issue.
    Filed it down with precision…
    The locking bolts fell out.
If you ever want to escape it’s an easy answer.

Just round it off a little and you’ll be fine.

These are not so much 'locks' as 'holding pins'. i can pick the ones that come with Chinese devices with a bent paperclip in ten seconds. This type is even easier as you can apply pressure direct to the turning end. Im not a lock picker, i dont know how, but these have only one, or at best 2 pins and are just waiting to fall open. I got a cobalt drill, drilled straight through and use a drilled stainless pin and small padlock

Well, I sanded off just the tiniest bit of the sharp corners and it seems it already has solved the issue. Happy about that!

For posterity, I have filed the corners off a few of these locks without issue, but one fell apart immediately. There was what amounted to brass foil pressed into place to hold the springs and pins. The others I was able to round off considerably, so some are built heavier than others. I believe it had three circular indents where the one pictured above shows one, and that may be a tell-tale.
