We’re curious on what your devices look like.

Do genuine HTs have the words “Holy Trainer” engraved on the locking section (this section looks like an upside down arrow, kind of like a downvote arrow) of the cage portion?

Photos online of authentic HTv3s don’t show this engraving, but our device has it for some reason, so we’re worried it is a knockoff.

Probably best way to tell is how much you paid? I think the real HTs go for around $150? USD

If you paid much less than that, it's definitely counterfeit. If its around that, perhaps inconclusive.

I have genuine HTv3 small and HTv3 nano obtained directly from HolyTrainer.com. Both have the engraving you describe.

By saying 'locking section' you mean the key?

Thanks so much everyone for taking a look at the engravings! Makes me feel better that we didn’t get ripped off (we paid $170 for it, so it would be quite a disappointment if it is a copy).

Unfortunately, my bf is complaining that the ring is uncomfortable and rubs him raw. Quite a lot of false starts... sigh.

Didn't get ripped off? At $170? What does the genuine $170 item have over the $15 counterfeit? Just curious.

The genuine article is made of a different material, and I doubt the Chinese counterfeiters have any incentive to improve on the original. Rather, they'll pick the cheapest they can get away with. Caveat Emptor...
Also, I bought a set of counterfeits, not for wear, but as templates when I make TetherSpout locking wires for other people, and most are OK, but the Nano is completely unusable: it has much more gap than the original and only huge testicles would fail to escape through that gap!

Exactly correct. If you paid $165 it is genuine. If you paid $15 to $25 it is a chinese knockoff. That being said the knockoffs are a good inexpensive way to determine if you like the device. Also.....and I have both a real Holy Trainer ....and 2 knockoffs of the Nub and Nano.....I found that the knockoffs are pretty good but needed some modifications as the edges were very sharp and had to be smoothed out with my dremel. I also had to sand the "ring" in the area of where the lock touches the inside so that it would work easily.
