Designing a chastity device from a vanilla female perspective

True. My interpretation of your message was a little rushed. Sorry for that.

I guess what I meant, is that for a man to be happy in Chastity, the KH must be involved a bit. I used to be very needy while in Chastity, which would annoy my wife. She taught me how she like it: I'm now more attentive and helpful to her while at the same time not making Chastity the center of our lives.

Still, Chastity is a big step for a men, I think. At least it is for me. Although I don't need much to be happy in Chastity, I need my KH to tease me verbally every now and then, to make me know she doesn't forget; to be playful about it.

I believe this requires a certain degree of Kinky.
I know my wife has period where she feels Kinky, and periods when she is all vanilla. During the later, she has 0 interest in Chastity.

Now that's just our experience. Maybe others will have different ones

 

Certainly the cages imply a bdsm theme. Perhaps a covering as you say or something decorative? Rhinestones? An attractively styled athletic supporter?

Mistress makes an excellent point. Chastity cages can look like Medieval torture devices upon first glance, so can certainly put women off.

 

Just a short thought: I don't feel like people without a penis should create male chastity devices - as much as people without tits shouldn't create bras!

Mrs Edge used to think that chastity devices looked like old plumbing parts - and she was right. I had made some of my early devices, but she wasn't taken with any of them. It was the clear plastic CB3000 that really took her interest, in part, because it had a nice, organic shape, and in part because she liked being able to look inside.

That said, chastity devices are constrained by the CCSS matrix: Comfort, Convenience, Security, and Sexiness. Jockstrap type devices might be comfortable, but they won't be convenient (sitting to pee, frequent cleaning, etc. ), and some of the designs I've seen look too much like a vague medical device. Also, full belts become problematic for men doing physical labor, not to mention sport.

Plastics will need more frequent cleaning because of their nature. Trapped ball designs are more convenient, but not inherently more secure (and not everyone wants a PA). And once you find a device that is comfortable to wear, convenient to maintain, and is relatively secure, then you start rating it's looks: Is it sleek, low profile, or shiny? That's usually sexy. Does it look like it was made from old metal bits soldered together? Not so much.

 

Agreed Mistress. Women seem to better blend form and function when designing things (clothes, buildings, etc.). So why not chastity devices that men wear for the benefit of, at the request of, in mutual agreement with women. Just pet’s thoughts Mistress.

 

Ironic or coincidental? It was the athletic cup like the one Lucy showed is what ignited the desire for chastity in me as a youngster.

 

The Cherry Keeper in Valentine's Red doesn't seem to me (OK, I'm a male, but ...) to be imposing. In fact, P finds it quite attractive. I dearly love P, but she has zero gift for mechanical things. She got me into the Cherry Keeper without any drama at all, turned and removed the key from the lock, gave me a big kiss and a good squeeze down there, and we've both been enjoying a great time since. Had it been black or stainless, P just might have been put off by the industrial/BDSM look (Though we both enjoy some heavy BDSM play). The color, the simplicity, and the cute heart on top of the cage made it all entirely palatable for her. What has been occurring as a result of the lockup has us both blown away.

 

I'm pretty sure people without breasts DID invent bras...…..more to the point there is no reason men can be tasked with the design of chastity devices to meet (female) customer specifications.

 

May I humbly suggest the desirable features and appearance of a male device be posted in the womens only forum for suggestions/requirements?

Secondly, the name. Chastity device sounds old and evil. Dick cage sounds totally BDSM and evil. We also need better names.

I guess my wife is in a small minority! When we got our Mature Metal Jail Bird (it's nicely polished stainless steel) she had me put it on. Once it was on she exclaimed "I like it, it looks like a piece of jewelry!"

My other half never commented on how it looked when we had our first plastic devices, but that's exactly what she said when I first wore my custom steel Red Chili device.

 

Considering your target market of those new to chastity it maybe worth investigating something along the lines of a cheap 'disposable' device.
Im picturing something very similar to your original post, basically an antibacterial underwear with a thermoplastic inner lining. Apply heat initially to mould everything to the shape of the wearer. For security it could perhaps be glued to the wearer's member. A glue that broke down when exposed to UV light or some kind of skin safe chemical.

Imho price is just as important as looks for those new to the lifestyle, trying to convince a skeptic to spend hundreds of dollars on a new 'toy' will always be an uphill battle.

I'm currently wearing a device designed by a woman. My wife is neutral on the aesthetics, but is pleased by the effect when I dyed the device into an unobtrusive flesh tone.

 

if you get a chance to remove it Giles it would be great to see a picture.

 

I didn't doubt the existence of male couturiers, but their knowledge about how a bra (created by them) might feel (although thinking about this once more...).
Anyway, this discussion tends to lead to a direction, where design is more important than function - and I wouldn't even try to sit on a chair built with this intention!
