Hi! Hope I can lean on someone's experiences.

I got a set of rubber sizing rings for the base and cage - been planning to order a MCN device but been held up due to being unsure about measurements. On their website it mentions "discomfort" wearing the sizing rings and was wondering what you'd define as discomfort.

The specific question I have is this:

If it's fine all day but you go to sleep in it and wake up with pain due to morning wood, does that count as discomfort and therefore indicative of requiring a different size? Does a metal device prohibit this issue from occurring in any way if correctly sized? i.e. am I only experiencing this because the rings are made of rubber?

    Thanks in advance.

If you have to ask, you're probably not experiencing meaningful discomfort because from my one experience with it, I'd argue it is kind of impossible to mistake or underestimate.

With a properly sized device and a few days for your body to realize that erections are bad, night time erections will be reduced but I don't think they ever really go away considering they're a product of your filling bladder pushing on things which cause the erection and they'll always be uncomfortable.

One thing I will note is that I've been able to wear devices that were so tight that I'd get sores when removed without ever feeling any pain. I don't know if periodic lubing would help mitigate that or if your body will adjust, but my current device puts temporary marks on my flaccid penis but they don't turn into cuts and that's without any lubing.

Unlucky is spot on, the first few days are tough, but your body adapts and adjusts to its new situation.

    Don't count morning erections.

But don't overthink it. You need to go into this process with the understanding and budget that you WILL need to make adjustments, you WILL need to send the Device back or order a completely new device.

MCN is a great choice. Mark is amazing to deal with and has a quick turn around. But you have to understand, getting a custom device right the fist time is very unrealistic. But the bright side is mcn devices are very flexible in that modifications can be made relatively inexpensively and very quickly.

Get it close. Find what works. Try different base rings. Gaps. Cage diameters.

I probably have 1200$ wrapped up in cages that didn't work and modifications to my current cage to get it where I like it.

I messed up by going with a 3d printing company. Zero place for modifications. Had to pay again for a new device. Wasted over 600 dollars. Found MCN and tried out the amicus. Got a feel for what I needed and used the measurement rings. Ordered my contender and made probably three or four changes to it.

Yes. Rubber is more grippy than smoothly polished steel. So it plastic for me. Jewelry grade polished steel feels great.

I do get a friction burn in rubber more than steel. But it’s safer to size with rubber for those first experimenting out, who often have more enthusiasm than sense :p (I speak from personal experience.) You can cut a rubber ring off. But I never got myself into something I couldn’t get out of, even in steel.

Once I got myself in a too tight cock ring. I bought a cage second hand that had a 1-1/2” base ring. Nothing truly bad happened. It took forever to put on. But I squeezed my erection with both my hands to exert pressure back, and got it softened and used lubrication to get myself out. Honestly you should never be close to that situation for chastity baserings. An incredibly tight basering is not required at all. And especially not for MaleChastityNow’s nicely weighted designs!

I think I also ordered basic stainless or brass ones from Male-Essentials. I forget now. I had cock rings already but I wanted to feel the 1/4” round bar.

The morning erections in chastity are always “hard” at first.

My Contender was my first cage I could actually get sleep in. I finally was able to wear it 24x7 back in 2014. But I’d get up in the wee hours of the morning, walk to the bathroom, sit to pee to interrupt the morning wood, and shuffle back to bed. It got easier with time.

The trick is not to go back to sleep. Don’t pick up your smartphone and look at porn while throbbing in your cage, unless you like the self torture and purely mental masturbation. ;)

Steel is smoother than rubber. But rubber is a good place to start. I think the big thing is not to have something so tight that you fold over your skin too much under the ring. I found I got skin problems creating folds of skin that never got air or washed. This seems obvious when I say it. Some is fine. You can adjust.
