But we do actually have actual information available, from multiple sources (including states, health organizations, hospitals, CDC, WHO, various other governments around the world), that largely line up and paint roughly the same picture.

I've never seen our planet from space, but I acknowledge the overwhelming likelihood that it is round. Similarly, I am not a doctor or a virologist or an epidemiologist, but I acknowledge the overwhelming likelihood that very few people have died from the vaccine, while many (over a million in the US alone) have died from the disease caused by the COVID-19 virus.

The data really does speak for itself. Obviously, my view is the unpopular one on this particular thread (and on websites like "stopworldcontrol" etc.), but I am incapable of accepting something that is clearly inconsistent with the actual data that we have.

To the best of my knowledge, I'm still sane.

NIH Finally Cuts Off Funding to Wuhan Biolab ... But 27 Chi Com Labs Still Make the List

The Epoch Times is reporting:

“The National Institute of Health (NIH) has quietly removed the Wuhan lab suspected as a source of COVID-19 from its list of foreign facilities eligible to conduct animal experiments on taxpayer dollars.

The name Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), which was still on the list as recently as April 23, was absent from the page last updated on May 17. The current list consists of 27 other laboratories from China.

The WIV has for years been a partner of the New York-based EcoHealth Alliance, conducting bat coronavirus research with U.S. funding, which totaled more than $3 million between 2014 and 2019.

Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), a vocal critic of the NIH funding to Wuhan, cheered the news as a “victory for taxpayers.”

Here are the remaining Chi Com labs and research facilities the U.S. is funding:

A tiny trickle of good news in a sea of disgust.

While both bureaucracy and corruption exist everywhere, and while these organizations did make fools of themselves in the many mistakes that they made (and hubris they showed) over the past few years, that is quite different from a claim that "all of these organizations are corrupt".

And while "group think" certainly does exist, and it's possible for masses (or even experts) to completely miss out on reality for a period of time as a result, in this particular case, we have a stunning amount of public data from hundreds of different countries and thousands of organizations around the world. And millions of internet sleuths working around the clock to prove that gosh-darned baby-eating kitten-slaughtering Dr. Fauci wrong. Sunlight is the best disinfectant, and publicly available data from many different sources is a form of sunlight.

And conspiracies that involve the coordination of millions of people across hundreds of governments and thousands of organizations are really, really hard to pull off. Like, impossibly hard. Like, impossible.

(And the comments from other people with the "George Soros" conspiracy theory nonsense, or links to the "epoch times" ... goodness gracious, maybe use a news source that is not literally run by an actual for realz religious cult?)

I'm not claiming to be always right, or to having some advantage of knowledge, or anything else equally ludicrous. I'm simply evaluating this topic the same way I'd evaluate any complex topic that I'm not an expert on -- which is to use stone cold rationalism, to consider the sources of information, to evaluate the available knowledge on the topic from actual experts in the field, and when necessary to look at the underlying data available.

(And I hate that I'm disagreeing with the creator / owner of this web site. I do have great respect for you.)

*No one can know anything for certain.

*You claim to be rational. And imply that those who disagree with you are not.

So what? You are simply a staunch advocate of the mainstream narrative.

Let me guess, i’ll bet you’ve said something like this before:

“I’m a centrist.”

“I’m a financial conservative but a social liberal.”

“Even though no one knows for sure, I wear a mask just to be careful. It’s only rational.”

“If they just tried socialism harder, it would work.”

Playing the devil's advocate, by this logic, all structure fires are arson, because fire fighters spend a lot of time preparing for fires. You could also say the same about every emergency preparedness drill. The military does it too, but perhaps we shouldn't go there.

Bush Sr. got the ball rolling after 9/11, and the government has been on a spending spree ever since.

Those with jobs in government and academia, i.e. not the private sector, know a milk cow when they see it, and know how to hoodwink brain dead politicians, whose only concerns is the next election they have to buy.

Are the days of free money truly over?

 

I'm not surprised to see people who are dealing with the COVID topic in their official status wearing masks when pictures are taken. They probably even wear them in that setting when pictures are not being taken. We have fairly good data that good quality N95 masks, worn correct and consistently, significantly reduce infection. And they obviously know that, because it's part of their job to share that information. But that's only part of the reason that they're wearing masks in those photos.

In a role that is publicly visible, people are often expected to "practice what they preach", and to lead by example, so you would expect that their work photos would almost all be masked, to reinforce that message. Do they look stupid? Sure. Does it save lives when public figures demonstrate responsible behaviors? Yes. (If you're interested in going down statistical rabbit holes, there are actually a few studies and meta-studies on US death rates by political affiliation, which illustrate this point quite sadly.)

But we also know that people are people, and there's a bit of Boris Johnson in everyone -- and I'm not talking about the women he's shagged, I'm talking about the disregard for personal and public safety. Most people can only toe the annoying line for so long. And with the "emergency" now officially over, we shouldn't be surprised when some of those most strident during the "emergency" are just as glad as you are now to not have mask up for every single situation in which there might be a photographer.

Unrelated, but I currently have a friend who is fairly ill with COVID right now, although he is at least now finally on the mend. But COVID illnesses are generally not an emergency, at this point: we're 3 years into this pandemic now, we know how to treat it medically, we know how to vaccinate against it, and we know what the rough estimate is for fatality for different age brackets and risk factors. It sucks that this is now going to be a once- or twice-yearly sickness for most people, and it sucks that we'll have to deal with it for as long as the human race manages to survive itself, but that's where we are.

 

Am I the only one who is COVID tired? I’ve heard and seen so much devastating wrong choices of our government…..

Look again at those photos. Do those look like “N95 masks properly worn”? Obviously not.

Even with the photos right in front of you, you can’t bring yourself to admit the mask wearing is political theater.

Haha. I bought such a mask in the beginning and went to supermarket with it. The most people didnt like this and commented evil things.. Lol.
