My Jailbird is getting a buildup where the vertical and horizontal bars meet in front. I think it’s probably dried precum. Anybody else have this and found an easy way to remove it? It’s pretty stubborn and a toothbrush didn’t remove much of it. I’ve used HOT soapy water and tooth brush so far. TIA

I personally am not married to the idea of never removing the device........long term chastity, yes, but removing it once in a while is only sensible to me.

Therefore, assuming you removed the device, soak it in vinegar. Then use a brush. Dentists recommend this sort of thing for cleaning bio crust from things like dentures and night time mouth guards. I'd also soak it in hydrogen peroxide every few days.

If somehow this doesn't work, soak it in gasoline. (it's steel, right?) Then repeat the brush, vinegar, peroxide steps.

Let us know how that works. BTW, I'd soak it (and ANY of my devices) in peroxide every few days regardless.

I have good luck with boiling in water for 5 minutes then scrubbing.

If you live in a hard water area it's probably limescale! A soak overnight in vinegar will do the job. A good wash of afterwards and you'll be good to go!

You tried blunt or sharp instruments, even a finger nail. No matter if its dried bodily fluids, calcium deposits or other from water they'll all break up with a bit of proper agitation. A toothbrush is going to be too soft. A cocktail stick would work, but make sure you have a steady hand.

Every time I remove my Queens Keep, I use an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner (about $35 on Amazon) to clean it, ...then I briefly use a toothbrush on all surfaces.
It will make short work of the buildup you are describing.
It's been working great for me, My cage looks shiny and new every time.

Awesome advice. I soaked in vinegar and ran it through the dishwasher (alone) and it was clean as new

I would also add: let it sit in the sun to dry if possible. (maybe on a day off) The UV rays of the sun are good at killing bacteria.

You started a good thread. I am going to copy you somewhat and start one specifically for the Cherry Keeper.

I have used a ultrasonic cleaner and also have used the dishwasher and they both did a good job.

denture cleaner, ultrasonic device and then a bath in 70% isopropanol for 5 minutes.
This takes about the same time as shaving the target zone.
