CM generously provides two FREE chat features. What is disturbing to myself is how very little it is being used or how it is being mis-used for all the effort that CM takes in providing and maintaining it. Chat: Talk in a friendly and informal way. An informal conversation. Chat is an amazing and easy way to welcome new members, have friendly and open conversations, help, inform, assist, keep up to date, support and even entertain fellow members. Most likely it is due to my own time zone, Eastern USA, but most frequently i'm seeing the chat feature being used by those that most often only chat with those they already have personal friendships with or a place to just sit there and observe others that they hope are chatting and never say a single word. Should CM continue with the time, effort, generosity, and band width costs that it takes in providing their amazing chat features or scrap them?
I was just in the chatroom chatting away. You were logged in there at the time. You made no contribution and then you left. The public chatroom can be really good fun and very interesting. It's only limited by the imaginations of those participating.
I agree with Mascara^Snake. I don't use it often, but I've found it to be a great way to get to know my fellow members.
I enjoy the chatroom. I think it's inevitable that people go in and don't say a lot - they're usually surfing other areas at the same time. But you do get some excellent chats at times.
I like to talk about anything. I'm interested in the conversation partner: who is he/she, Where do you live, what do you think of the world, about human relationships, what do we think of each other, the desires are also interested, but rather the goals, actions, thoughts.
Missing the point much? Placed this poll in the Forum category that receives the most frequent viewers to promote the CM chat feature and hopefully create a greater interests in using it. Yes, i often enter chat and do not participate when chat is going surprisingly well and i don't wish to respectfully disrupt the flow of it. The CM chat is a fantastic service being provided to us for free and i was the first to of course voted for "I love it"
I think communication is like too. I like to use it. This is one-sided, that's true. But signaling. Confirmation to someone. Encouragement. And a little call sign I take the opportunity to thank all those who have been patient to me. And they encouraged me with these signs.
When CM was very popular 8 or 9 years ago, the chat room was the best part of the site. It was well attended, and there were always interesting conversations going on. Today it has lost it's way, and is a string of "hellos" and "Goodbyes". I hope it can regain the the former popularity, and I have been making an effort to join in over the last few days.
Windy is absolutely correct. It was just over 8 years ago when I joined the site and chat was the place to be.
Over time I have developed a relationship with those I find interesting or if we have things in common. They are the ones I chat with in room. I don't need Help or brought up to speed-Whatever that means? Nor do I give advice or need advice. I seen it too many times people giving crap advice. Entertain or amuse others in chat. What the hell does that mean? Am I suppose to sing and dance and tell jokes? You don't join in conversations if they are Flowing and you don't chat to get a conversation going. Your words not mine! Yet you have decided to start a poll to either get rid of chat or just complain. Interesting to see you have decided how a chat room should be used.
I believe it has a place but I just dont have time for a back n forth chat. I barely have enough time for Facebook messenger etc.
Ok - admit it: I'm far from being a "regular user" of the chat. And that's not because I dislike people in here! (*lol* - honest!). But I have to agree totally with windrush (without knowing how it was 9 years ago): whenever I get there it's mostly just like the end of an "Waltons"-Episode (the older people might remember the "good-night-John-Boy"-thing)! Aaaand: I almost lose self-control, when the first pm I get is: "are you locked?" So in the end: this chat really could be a better place - all we need to do is follow the "Nike"-advert: JUST DO IT!
