Thank you Bobby, we're very happy to be here as an alternative. I understand your frustrations and it was one of the reasons we decided to go it alone.

 

I understand that people feel annoyed with all the time-outs and oops's of the server that gets hickups even though there are hardly any visitors. However, i am still hesitating to leave the place for good. After all, it has been a very nice homestead for long time and i made a lot of new friends there. I feel as if it wouldn't be fair to just turning around and go away :squigglemouth:

I put a lot of effort to the profil and all my stories i posted over the time. May be for alimited time i will stay there and may be the competition will boost maid lexis's efforts to make the site more stable.
In any case i will stay here and if Mistress Watchful doesn't mind i will move some of my best pictures and stories to this place.

Absolutely!

I never intended to "desert" CL, after all it was my springboard and first source of information. This is an alternative and additional chastity site.

I'll still be posting at CL (when it lets me!) because I understand that a lot of loyal members will stay there, and I don't want to lose touch with them.

Over time, this will become more like home to me, and I hope others will feel the same.

 

Hello Bobby and Mistress Watchful. Is this going to be the new hot spot ? I'm ready for a new place to hang and this looks ideal to me.

Bobby, I've had the same problem the last few days, too. I can get in, but waiting two minutes every time for a new page to load is ridiculous. Not that I've tried it, but I think watching paint dry would be more fun. Instead of being agonizingly slow once in awhile, it is now the norm, or so it seems. Like you said, whatever the issues are, I've just about had enough. Especially with a solid alternative available, run by people I know to be real and that I can trust.

Mistress Watchful, if you're interested I'd be happy to bring over more of the Chastity Lifestyle members by seeding my posts with a mention of The Chastity Mansion. I don't know if you're ready for that, or if you want to be that overt in recruiting members there for your group here. Let me know, I'd be pleased to selectively promote your new website.

And thank you Mistress Watchful and MW's pet, for your time and efforts in making your dream become a reality that many can benefit from.

I'm more than happy to be advertised, I just didn't want to go in "guns blazing" as I felt it was disrespectful.

I've always had the intention to link through my old blog and through MyDungeonSpace and I also have a facebook account purely for advertising this site.

I didn't want there to be conflict, I appreciate everything I've learned there and the wonderful contacts I've made and see no reason why the sites cannot run simultaneously.

 

I feel that Chastity Lifestyle could do far more in regards to communicating with the members that make it a great place to be. Tell us what the issues are from their end. Address our concerns and what the possible solutions are. Let us know how we can help.
But that isn't going to happen. That's obvious at this point.

I was a member way back. When it was a very different (clunky) format and 3 or 4 posts in a week was a big week. I responded to as many posts as I was qualified to and tried to move the group forward. Then, somehow my original ID was deleted or lost. Not a big problem, but my current Chastity Lifestyle ID is locked out of viewing other members profiles and seems to lack other features. Then to think that as the group has grown, added advertisers, made some other sales and presumably gained some income, all based on the group's number of members and activity levels, which in turn is an outgrowth of the committed, active members showing up regularly and making a real contribution, that I can't get an answer to any of my questions from those that run Chastity Lifestyle. No response from them...at all.

In spite of all that I'll still go back and try to make a difference, because I like the membership and the mature way that we all interact...usually. lol

But...there comes a time when enough is enough.
I do hope, Mistress Watchful, that you and your cherished pet will consider making this site, Chastity Mansion, an active, robust alternative to Chastity Lifestyle.

Yes, I figured you'd take the high road and be respectful, as it is the right thing to do, and I didn't expect anything less. You are a classy Lady.

My concern was how quickly you want to grow this group and how large you want it to get. Success may bring some of the issues that Chastity Lifestyle struggles with. An overloaded server, more demands on your time and perhaps more expenses, too.

I should explain that I just love visiting Chastity Lifestyle every day, or close to it, because of the membership. The idea of having the active members there congregating here, also, is an exciting proposition. And as you said, doing so simultaneously, alongside Chastity Lifestyle, would be wonderful.

Lol, Kinkish you weren't whining, you were voicing your opinions!

I don't *think* we'll have any issues if we grow too fast. pet has run websites before with large memberships and whenever there was a problem at CL he would say what it was and how it should have been fixed (well... his opinion anyway!)

I don't see any reason why we can't both have our place on the internet, I'd like to think its easily big enough as there aren't so many chastity websites and its obviously a growing trend.

 

Ok ill make this simple. When you carry lots and lots of advertising pictures on a site the images become a drain on server resources. Now also when your getting time-outs on a server thats usually due to database queries hitting the server processor. As more and more images and posts were added i suspect they were getting DB timeouts.

As they are running an open source enviroment i suspect that the DB is MySQL or Postgress which therefore means that scaling and clustering can be an issue.

Bottom line the site got to big and busy and the resources cannot cope. Sorry for the long winded boring reply here.

All of the advertisements that they have are hot linked from the respective sites, so that alone makes the pages load slow.

As for the site continually going down it's mainly due to their host, and the fact that they are more than likely given a set limit of how much server resources they can have, which appears to be very very little.

 

Probably on some form of VPS then i suspect nice site design by the way very easy on the eye!

 

The best bit is that, since we all got first notice of the existence of this wonderful new site, we all got to have the same usernames as we used to have!

Everyone is easily identifiable!

Considering the tens of thousands of chastity devices sold in the last few years, there should be PLENTY of room for another chastity-related forum!

 

CL has always had login problems for me, I find I can get in easily after 7pm (uk time) but the rest of the day is pot luck, still I enjoyed it over the years and will still have a look in once or twice a week, in terms of easy navigation and logging in this site is EXCELLENT!:tongue: love the little graphics too:xd:

 

I would be willing to plug your spot over at cuckold forum if you like. There are a few of us in chastity over there. The owner of the site can be rather fickle, but as long as you are willing to cross post links to his site here i am sure he will be more than willing to allow links to this one on his site.

 

I'll chime in and say that I, too, have had problems with the C.L. site. Never had a problem with the login logistics such as unknown ID or password stuff - but performance-related problems abound there; so much so that logins often get rejected via the 'Oops!' thing that others have mentioned. Then when you finally get in, one discovers that the supposedly-heavily-loaded system has, like, maybe 3 or 4 people logged in.

I've also had issues with over-pushy agenda of the moderator - not only deleting posts that [clearly respectfully] submitted positions that differed from his - but he went as far as actually impersonating posts from other users [real other users, too - not just aliases for the moderator!]. That's where I had to draw the line. (To be fair, I think he's stopped doing such things a while ago.)

 

I would like to think we would never have reason to delete posts, unless it was by the request of the general majority... but we're still new and haven't got to the flaming/arguing stage yet (and I hope we never will!)

I think if you look to the statistics posted on that site, there are only ever 3 members logged in. The stats at the bottom of the page do not seem to be "live".

But, by the by, if it wasn't there, we wouldn't be here... so I try not to grumble too much! :angel:

 

I popped over to CL to change my signature, answer a few posts, and do a little (subtle) advertising of our site!

I'm SO glad pet convinced me to have our own site... it's taken me AGGGGGESSSSSSSS to change my signature and post one post! I'd forgotten how slow it could be.
