    The other commonly recognised symbol is the cockerel in a cage.
    It's one where the meaning would still not immediately be obvious but I like it because you can see the pleasure of the "eureka moment" that it'll give every time someone works out what it means.

    The turtledove was apparently a well known symbol of chastity in the middle ages. But like most religious stuff... its just fizzled out lol
