I was going to say "there were a dozen threads on this already" but then it popped up in my Twitter feed just now. This is a new article and I guess the ransom demand is a new angle I haven't seen before.

If the hackers bothered to learn their target audience, they would have first pretended to be a sexy Domme and then charged a ransom to not unlock the cage :D

My mind would not have demanded money but I would have told the ones locked it will be unlocking day tomorrow and see how many complaints day by day that I received lol.
Since tomorrow never cums as the case would be

So, if I read that correctly, the hacker is asking for about $750 in ransom for a device which costs about $150? While the device looks neat, I would think that I have a number of tools on my workbench that could open, albeit destroy, the device without too much trouble without damaging "the little guy". It would seem to me that I'd be $600 ahead...and even IF I wanted to buy another one, I'd be $450 ahead, by taking that route over paying his demands. Which he may or may not release the device anyway.

    Or did I miss something?

yeah, I mean the guys are greedy. How about $200? Or simply ask them to be your key holder for $200?
