There’s a show on Netflix called Bonding and it’s about a young Dominatrix going through grad school and earning her income as a pro domme. She recruits her best from from high school to be her assistant and body guard who is a submissive gay man. Supposedly it’s somewhat based on the true experiences of the young gay man helping his friend. It’s a comedy and I scanned the first episode and thought it was decent enough to continue watching. Many professional Dommes in the bdsm community think it’s garbage but the point is to tell the story through comedy versus drama so maybe that’s why. Wonder Woman and I are going to give it a shot tonight, she giggled citing she might find some good ideas for us within the show. Just wondering if anyone else was watching and could comment on the show. We were into that show Billions for a while, I like all the actors and I liked the context of one of the main characters Wendy being a dominatrix. The show lost its luster for me when it became apparent that Wendy was kind of a dirt ball. She’s just not a good person and I feel like viewers are supposed to get the idea that because she’s a dominatrix that it goes hand in hand with being an unsavory person. I hate that dominatrixes are often portrayed like this, like they’re not good people or something because of the lifestyle they choose to live.
I thought it was a very funny show! The episodes are super short, 15 or so minutes so it goes fast. A new season should be coming out soon I think/hope!
Agreed. My Keyholder Wife and i have watched the first season and enjoyed it. It's witty and light, with a few pro-domme scenes to spice it up. Per this link, the second season just started filming! asa
Wonder Woman and I just finished the first season and we both love the show. Really fun and funny and I really like the personalities and character development thus far, really looking forward to season two. I highly recommend for everyone here!
Me and Goddess watched the series a while ago, thought it was Ok, were some really funny moments like the 'happy birthday' urination scene that was hilarious. Wish the episodes were a little longer but was a decent series.
I think it was fine, I don't LOVE that it's always implied that women are Dommes for money and not because it's how they see the world though... can't it be BOTH ?!
That's where i'd love to see there series go. If only Tiff (the Domme) would "go lifestyle" and bring an FLR into the storyline, wouldn't that be great? asa
Agreed about the money comment, it would be nice to see lifestyle dommes versus pro dommes in more tv series. The only lifestyle domme I can think of in any other show right now is one of the main characters Wendy Rhodes in the show Billions. The writers start to portray her as more twisted and corrupt as the show progresses although that is more due to the men she is involved with. Nevertheless I feel like the characters twisted behavior and the fact that she is a dominatrix are supposed to go hand in hand to make up who she is. That’s why I stopped watching the show, solely because I felt the writers were doing Maggie Siff’s character as well as any other true lifestyle dommes an injustice by essentially creating a false stereotype. In all fairness I haven’t watched the show past season 2 so maybe her character has changed for the good but I doubt it.
Just noticed that season 2 of "Bonding" is available on Netflix now. Looking forward to a little "Netflix and Bonding" this weekend! asa
